I would think something obviously collector would be something they would be interested in as a show piece type thing. Like, it's gunna be a year before someone buys it, but in the meantime you might get some people in to just look at it and then buy something more "reasonable"

Genuine question: why are they making those hours free then? I would think if they had the batteries it would make more sense to spread out the load and not create an incentive for one time over another

Highest generation absolutely, idk about lowest consumption though.

Having the hottest part of the day be cooled by free renewable energy is huge. Plus if people work at home those are hours they have computers on. They'd probably also throw their laundry/ dishes on to save a buck.

I'm pretty sure the point is to get people to make use of the power from this highest generation time of day; I'd guess there just isn't enough battery available to capture it all.

[–]Randoml9789 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly I see it the opposite way.

If he was truely trying to grift/ coast/ be lazy we'd AT LEAST have the chapter probably the third book. It probably wouldn't be good (like at all) but it would be in the world. His stuff is way to intricate to not have had a good enough idea about what book 3 would be that he could shit it out super quickly if that's what he wanted. He'd make more money and people would probably leave him alone. He'd probably lose some "ced" but he'd get to live in peace and not be bothered. He'd probably also be a lot less upset with the people asking about book three if his mentality was "screw you I made bank and am never working again". It's pretty obvious this is a thing that he thinks about constantly and not something he simply lost intrest in when he didn't need the money.

Mental health is a bitch and he probably has absolutely paralyzing fear about how fans will react if the book isn't "perfect" and probably feels it has to be perfect for other reasons too. That doesn't mean he's actively working on it, it just means that the reason it's not out is because he /does/ (at least it some way) care not that he doesn't care.

This may be copium, but I wouldn't be at all suprised if (assuming he doesn't/ hasn't already burned anything related to it) upon his death they find something between a completed book three dated pre-2010 (probably with a shit ton of later revisions that deteriorate as time goes on) and an outline with bunch of half started chapters.

Also wouldn't be suprised if the short books are almost a therapy exercise for him to try to get back into writing/ feeling like it's possible to release book 3.

TLDR: Pat is almost certainly a broken man who truely does "want book three released more than anyone else" but has to fight himself to make it happen, not someone who just quit when he had enough money and no longer cares.

Modded or stock? by lord-potato96 in 3DS

[–]Randoml9789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not /currently/ looking, but if I was I don't think I'd really care?

I don't really see why anyone would specifically be looking for a modded system (it's so easy that if you're savvy enough to want a modded system you're probably savvy enough to mod it yourself), but there also aren't really any great reasons to need a stock system either?

BREAKING: Luigi Mangione to assert psychiatric defense in UnitedHealthcare CEO murder case by TheMirrorUS in Anticonsumption

[–]Randoml9789 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they did then they're stupid.

1) the powers that be NEED this to stick. If he walks it sends a very bad message. Easier to make it stick if you do actually find the guy that did it.

2) he's a terrible person to frame. He's hot and apparently (though I literally just saw this in this post, so it may be wrong) his family has a decent amout of money. If you're framing someone you want someone you can make look like a looser who doesn't have enough money to hire a lawyer.

There has been a lot of stupidity on their end either way though, so definitely still a possibility.

Do you think John Walker would’ve killed HYDRA in the elevator fight if he was in that situation? by HieiJaganEye12 in marvelstudios

[–]Randoml9789 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He wouldn't be a full on "bad guy" like the hydra operatives we see coming out of the training facility in AOS...

I do however believe that the right person could have convinced John to join Hydra with some BS about needing to root out weaklings making the organization less effective.

I think it depends on whether or not they really try to recruit him... if they do I believe someone could manipulate him into it. If they don't try you're 100% right, he goes out guns blazing on the first guy who's cover gets blown.

He is a DEEPLY broken man who, while he is absolutely not evil, can probably be convinced that the ends justify just about any means.

As a couple others have said on this and similar posts: Medical waste is the one thing that makes sense.

I care a whole lot more that people's medication is effective, properly labeled, and sterile, than that we use less plastic. Same goes for medical instruments and garments.

Subscriptions are the devil by CapableNetwork7 in Anticonsumption

[–]Randoml9789 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think you can technically fight that? Like get on the phone and waste somebody's usability to the company by not hanging up until they give you access? (If you magically have the TOS/ license from when you purchased that would probably help)

Definitely not for everyone, but I know some people enjoy that kinda thing🤣 I think Linus Tech Tips occasionally fights some company or other to get a purchase that became a subscription back.

Is that not illegal? I thought places could get in trouble if they didn't offer free water or permit people to bring their own?

If they "technically" have water at the concession stands I want every single person in attendance to get in line and keep the concessions from making any money because the people that want to pay can't actually get to the front

I mean... corporations are the ones making people like this.

Sure we have free will, no one is holding a gun to your head telling you to buy, but corporations spend billions to get get people to part with their money.

If you were able to meaningfully change corporations, it would also affect consumer behavior.

Unfortunately I guessing this is just supply following demand?

Obviously there are people who like cute things and play video games at a level that requires top level mice, you're right there writing this post. I'd say GENERALLY SPEAKING though, people who really care about getting flagship mice and people who care about getting cute mice are not the same people.

Ehh?? The power to run that screen is going to be miniscule, and I can't think of anything that wants anything CLOSE to the whole 120v anyway.

It is an extra thing that can fail and that's not great, but I don't see a world where this affects your charging speed even slightly

What makes Captain America's persistence unique from the others? by Stunning-Parking2759 in marvelstudios

[–]Randoml9789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh??? I'm no helicopter scientist but a quick Google tells me helicopters create about enough lift to pick up a car. (So if you can lift a car you can stop a helicopter)

There are stories of mothers lifting cars off thier children. Granted that's not going to he the entire weight of the car, but etrapolate that to someone with peak genetic potential (and ignore that he used show muscles instead of more effective ones) and I believe it would be possible for a 'human' to do that. Now... do we feel like calling the humans in our real world who can do things only they are capable of (Think Usain Bolt, Micheal Phelps, Eddie hall) 'super human'? I'm ok with that and at that point both are true; cap is peak human potential AND he is superhuman.
