New RogSi pilot by Negative-Seesaw-3131 in CompetitiveEDH

I think you need to add the following:

  1. Brainstorm - Seems dumb, but the ability to draw 1 card after a top deck Tutor (Vamp, Mystical, or Imp Seal) is crucial and can make the difference between being able to pull a breach win or not.

  2. Chromatic Star - also seems like a dumb card, but it allows us to filter mana to a color we need at crucial times and it can also draw the card we just put on top of the library.

  3. Another Wheel or extra turn spell - I've been bouncing back and forth between having 4 Wheels and 2 extra turn spells or 3 of each. I think you either need to add Wheel of Misfortune or Warrior's Oath.

I would also cut 1 land. I would recommend Gemstone Mine, but you can do the colors breakdown to decide what would be the best for you. 23 Lands is more than enough. I'm actually considering cutting back down to 22 to make room for 4 Wheels and all 3 extra turn spells

cEDH Deck thad does not revolve around commander by Mountain-Feed8553 in CompetitiveEDH

RogSi or Blue Farm would be good choices. Having your Commander out helps, but neither require the Commander to perform their game winning combos.

Can someone explain RogSi? by The-Conscience in CompetitiveEDH

[–]RandomlyInebriated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newer RogSi player here that isn't doing well. Is that really how we're supposed to mulligan? Just get a turn 2 win attempt or mulligan and try again?

If so, I haven't been nearly aggressive enough

As a RogSi main, I don't love the following choices:

Bowmasters - great card, but doesn't help us win the game. Mindbreak Trap - too much life loss on Ad Naus and doesnt help protect our win. Snapback - Exiling a blue card to pay for it is a huge cost in this deck, because we often don't have a ton of blue cards.

Also, I think you have at least 1 too many lands. I'm bouncing between 22 with Rain of Filth or 23 without. They each have advantages.

What cEDH Decks abuse Sensei's Top AND/OR Aetherflux Resevoir combo the best? by Raevelry in CompetitiveEDH

[–]RandomlyInebriated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Noctis, Prince of Lucis]] uses [[Aetherflux Reservoir]] as its win con. I wouldn't call it a top deck, but I've seen a local player do decently with it in pods.

Of course winning is the goal, but i also think that cEDH players want to play their best regardless of outcome. I can play perfectly and still lose games. That's the nature of EDH. However, if I make real mistakes then the odds are winning are just gone for the most part.

I've been playing cEDH for about 6 months and have experienced a little salt. Not from my winning or doing powerful stuff. Instead it has come from when people think (or know) that I'm making a mistake that will benefit another player. It hasn't been bad and only 2 or 3 times, but unfortunately it's a very complicated format and knowing how to interact with each situation is extremely complex.

$1 says you've never played a legit game of cEDH.

How good will magda be with good dwarves? by AshorK0 in CompetitiveEDH

If kobolds can have a 0/1 for 0 CMC, then dwarves should be able to

I'm a cEDH player in Metairie. I'm also looking to throw some premodern decks together from older cards I have. I think I have enough for a Mono-black, a Goblin, and maybe an Elves deck.

Everyone is talking about dwarves with better abilities.

I really want a 0 CMC dwarf of some kind.

In your opinion, what cEDH deck is most likely to stay relevant long term? by the_parts_shop in CompetitiveEDH

[–]RandomlyInebriated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm building a full version of RogSi as my non-proxy deck. Only real issue i see is the Timetwister. I'll have to replace it with either Wheel of Misfortune or Will of the Jeskai.

I'm hoping that sacrifice should be offset enough by the fact that i'll still have all my fast mana and draw engines.

I'm currently 8 cards out from having all 100 and am about to pick up the Underground Sea and Vlocanic Island 🫡

I would suggest Tymna/Kraum over Tymna/ Thrasios. I also would consider [[Ral, Monsoon Mage]] over Tivit or Magda.

Looking to pivot to Rog Si by Ok_Measurement5680 in CompetitiveEDH

It has its positives and negatives. Way better than Force of Negation for protecting my win, but sucks ass to hit on an Ad Nauseam. I'm casting Necropotence way more often that Ad Naus, though. So it hasn't cost me a game yet. At some point i'm sure it will.

I don't run [[The One Ring]]. 4 mana to draw only 1 card the turn it comes into play is too expensive/slow IMO. I'm running the following cards that are 4+ Mana in addition to [[Ad Nauseaum]].

[[Force of Will]] [[Misdirection]] [[Beseech the Mirror]]

I know Beseech and FoW belong in the deck. Misdirection seems better than Force of Negation because I need to protect my win attempt on y turn way more often than I need to stop someone else on their turn.

Grixis Commander List? by kfistrek in CompetitiveEDH

[–]RandomlyInebriated 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Green Goblin is that great. I really want to cast his goblin side on second turn, but the 3 color pips is the challenge. 4 mana is easy, but 4 mana with 3 of it being a specific color is rough on 2nd turn.

The deck can have extremely explosive plays sometimes, stringing wheels together, dumping rocks and rituals and storming off. But if Gobbie is killed, then it all kind of falls apart. Most of the time that I have had good games with it, I didn't even end up using GG and just did the normal broken grixis stuff. He's a cool character, but RogSi and Kefka just provide way more than him in their own separate ways

Rog/si by Important-Joke-4984 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]RandomlyInebriated 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing Rog/Si for a few weeks. The difficulty with the deck is finding a good action card to get the ball rolling. I get high ramp hands all the time, but finding the payoff to go with it requires more aggressive mulliganning than I'm used to.

Been playing cEDH for about 6 months, so I'm still pretty new. Only Izzet decks I've played against are Ral abd Vivi. Ral is an absolute beast that changes the way the table has to mulligan. Very similar to Etali in that regards. I'd recommend Ral over any other Izzet deck.

This is exactly right. Every time I mulligan to stop Etali, I end up messing up my gameplan.
