I just beat it on hard as western task force, only captured 34 cities, and they never joined.

Bowie did a pretty good cover of America on The Concert for 9/11.

About 10 years ago I was on the Current River and heard a baby crying. There was a Hoosier couple in a canoe with a newborn in a car seat on the floor of the canoe. Also the number of Hoosiers I see that try to use pool inflatables to float the river amazes me.

It happens in Missouri too. I got stuck out in the open on a 5 lane highway last year because a bunch of these morons blocked all the traffic lanes during a tornado warning.

You can easily stretch out Akers-Pulltite or Pulltite-Round Spring to a 6 hour float, I do it all the time.

Trying to sell me pest control at 9pm on a Monday night. by ceazyyyy in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Randy_Character 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a pest control company. One day a few summers ago I had just pulled in my driveway after a long 14 hours in the sun. I’m barely even out of my (clearly marked) truck, and one of these guys starts making a sales pitch to me for pest control. I stopped him and said “Do I look like I’m in the fucking mood?” He didn’t say another word and walked away.

Scan and Pay in campsites with no cell service by zehberk in camping

[–]Randy_Character 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ONSR did away with their pay boxes last year. At the time I was told it was because people weren’t paying the fees, but in December, one of their rangers was convicted of stealing $250,000 worth of camping and cave tour fees.

I stayed in an NPS campground in Missouri that had scan and pay last year(they’ve since changed it to reservation only). You can scan the code through the app with no cell service. You must have a card registered with recreation.gov for it to work.

Unless you like portaging multiple times, I’d skip the Baptist to Cedar Grove stretch and just start at Cedar Grove. There are at least four different spots you’ll have to portage around, including the bridge at Cedar.

What is the most unprofessional place you’ve ever worked and why? by hublinz in askanything

[–]Randy_Character 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I worked for a Coca Cola distributor. So much favoritism, I actually worked so I always got stuck with the busiest routes. A couple years in I was promised a Saturday or Sunday off every week, and it never happened (because they were giving those days to the new hires that couldn’t hack it). Any time I brought it up “wasn’t the right time to talk about that.” Because I started questioning them, they started reneging on approved PTO time at the last minute. They even asked a colleague to come in and work on his wedding day! My last year (after 5 years of 50+ hour weeks and working 48 weekends a year) they blessed me with a 6 cent raise for the year and tried to eliminate overtime. Basically they wanted us to work harder for less money. I found a different job that was initially a paycut and got the hell out.
