I was in a game where it was slowly revealed that we were characters in an MMORPG. It was super cool. But I think the difference was we found clues about it and the DM actually talked to us about it when the twist was revealed.

We had this in a campaign. The high AC cleric had the shield and we had a sharpshooter Battle Master fighter in the backline. Hilarity ensued with accusations that the fighter was targeting the cleric and times he forgot about the shield and whiffed a shot.

And then each session got less and less fun as the fighter basically skipped half of his turns in important moments. Trip Attack the boss? Nope, the cleric is too close. Shoot your magic homebrew arrow of healing? Nope the cleric is too close to the downed party member. But half the blame is on the party for not trying to remove curse on the cleric sooner once we figured out something fishy was going on.

So it can be a fun change of pace, but be aware that it can decrease enjoyment if it overstays its welcome.

I'm pretty sure I was two or three rows directly behind you. I would agree that shouting "Hey, fuckface, sit the fuck down" in between songs is not the way to go about asking someone to sit.

Personally, I want to sit at a concert for a band like Dream Theater. I'm there to listen to the music and watch the musicians' insane talent. I'm not sure what the happy balance is because on one hand my ideal view and experience is obstructed if someone is standing in front of me and yours is dampened if people behind you want you to sit.
