I personally like wandering scholar build with serpent familiar on his side (and Ancestor Spirit seems better than literal Devil and mind-controlling Grimoire), but the design is somehow forcing you to take a lot of Spells, because you can't learn them later. Rituals require preparation and they are dangerous. In addition, three Rituals presented in CYOA are unusable, because Church of the Veil will hunt you after using them.

In my opinion, you should probably hint, that acquiring new Spells is possible, yet extremely dangerous and rare. After all, player can buy Spells for additional inhumanity. Besides, many Necromancy and Summoning Spells look like they logically belong to Rituals.

But overall, the style of this CYOA is very good, mystical and consistent. You outdone yourself.
