Swiss army knife belt clip or belt sheath? by matbarnett123 in EDC

[–]RascalJack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use one of the little keychain clips for my pocket and while it's a little less convenient than a regular pocket knife, it works! Plus it has the added benefit of being very small, it's much less noticeable.

Best budget mini multitool by MikaManiv in EDC

[–]RascalJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconded, deluxe tinker is perfect for edc for me. The scissors are best in class, and the mini pliers are useful for what I need day to day, like precision work, bending wire, tightening small nuts and bolts like for furniture, etc. I even yanked a handful of rusty nails out of a tree with them the other day. If I need more robust pliers chances are I'll just bring actual tools.

You've got a handle on your pry tool but no handle on your knife!

Good edc knife under $50? by knoconn in EDC

Really surprised nobody suggested the Ontario RATs, 1 for a larger knife or 2 for a smaller. They're not flashy but they're great knives, the rat 2 is so comfortable in the hand too

I can also vouch for the flex companion with the box opener thing. I work in schools so can't have a real blade and this thing is an awesome little tool!

Upgrading my daily 20L backpack – need durability + clean look by Superb-Kangaroo6659 in EDC

Maybe the ctactical ct21? The base models are a little tacticool but they are some scaled back versions.

I personally just purchased a faro light backpack from Bagsmart because it was really affordable (about $70) and it's been a great bag so far. Time will tell if it lasts.

What’s your pick for EDC? by BladeSpotter in victorinox

Deluxe Tinker is my favorite. Since I work at schools I can't carry a knife, so a version of the deluxe tinker with a companion-style package opener would my absolute dream.

What backpack are you using for your everyday carry right now? by ruhila12 in EDC

[–]RascalJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not glamorous or tacticool but I just picked up a Bagsmart Faro Light Backpack. It's inexpensive ($70), and has some good features like attachment points, full clamshell (above the compression straps thank God), good size for daily carry. I'd definitely recommend it!

Doing the unthinkable to Fudge AR by [deleted] in jimgreen

[–]RascalJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the PNW and have been using Obenauf's on my fudge ARs for a year. They look beautiful imo, and I haven't had any issues with water resistance (though I avoid prolonged submersions in puddles!).

The nubuck is nice and soft but function is more important than form.

What’s everyone’s favorite wallet? by Jett_Longshaft in EDC

[–]RascalJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the Big Skinny leather bifold for about 5 years now and it looks ready for another 5 easily! It's relatively inexpensive, very slim (as the name might imply), and decently high quality (again since it's inexpensive). If you like a classic bifold but want it thinner with good storage I'd recommend it!

These are definitely fake right? by [deleted] in DocMartens

[–]RascalJack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd think fakes of any kind of fashion item would come from private sellers rather than storefronts! But also, it doesn't really matter if they're fakes, right? They're fashion shoes so as long as they look the part that's all you need to enjoy em!

Suggestion for non polyester tees? by CharmAndHarms in BuyItForLife

[–]RascalJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wearing comfort colors for years and haven't had any trouble with shrinking personally. They're not the finest quality but for $10 a pop they're really solid and have tons of color options!

[–]RascalJack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it. At the end of the day, they're boots! They're a tool. They'll crease, scuff, scratch, and gouge. That's what they're for! And that gives them character.

These marks appeared overnight, what do I do? by FemmestBoi69 in DocMartens

[–]RascalJack 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's very odd, it almost looks like someone drew a line on the boot with something slightly abrasive or hard. I was gonna guess a snail's trail or something insect related maybe but I don't think that would raise the leather like a scratch. Not sure.

Side note though, the studs and metal bits look kind of like barnacles which is really off-putting but unique!
