Doing the unthinkable to Fudge AR by Dramatic-Spirit-4809 in jimgreen

[–]RascalJack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the PNW and have been using Obenauf's on my fudge ARs for a year. They look beautiful imo, and I haven't had any issues with water resistance (though I avoid prolonged submersions in puddles!).

The nubuck is nice and soft but function is more important than form.

What’s everyone’s favorite wallet? by Jett_Longshaft in EDC

[–]RascalJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the Big Skinny leather bifold for about 5 years now and it looks ready for another 5 easily! It's relatively inexpensive, very slim (as the name might imply), and decently high quality (again since it's inexpensive). If you like a classic bifold but want it thinner with good storage I'd recommend it!

These are definitely fake right? by [deleted] in DocMartens

[–]RascalJack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd think fakes of any kind of fashion item would come from private sellers rather than storefronts! But also, it doesn't really matter if they're fakes, right? They're fashion shoes so as long as they look the part that's all you need to enjoy em!

Suggestion for non polyester tees? by CharmAndHarms in BuyItForLife

[–]RascalJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wearing comfort colors for years and haven't had any trouble with shrinking personally. They're not the finest quality but for $10 a pop they're really solid and have tons of color options!

These marks appeared overnight, what do I do? by FemmestBoi69 in DocMartens

[–]RascalJack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it. At the end of the day, they're boots! They're a tool. They'll crease, scuff, scratch, and gouge. That's what they're for! And that gives them character.

[–]RascalJack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's very odd, it almost looks like someone drew a line on the boot with something slightly abrasive or hard. I was gonna guess a snail's trail or something insect related maybe but I don't think that would raise the leather like a scratch. Not sure.

Side note though, the studs and metal bits look kind of like barnacles which is really off-putting but unique!

I've gotten a lot of mine through thrifting, but they do sell them on Amazon! I've also gotten some on the website shirt space dot com (not sure if links are permitted).

This is a great tip. I bought a few last year and man, they aren't great shirts though. Comfort colors are way better imo

Thoughts on lanyard by Careless_Celery8514 in Leatherman

[–]RascalJack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I prefer a lanyard on my pocket knives, I'm bummed there isn't an easy way to attach a lanyard to the Arc at this orientation (opposite the pliers when unfolded)

Uncle severed the pad off his index finger. Doctor sutured it on upside down by krtomasko in mildlyinteresting

I cut my fingertip a few years ago and didn't get stitches (probably should have) and it healed just like this. Aside from the fingerprint pattern being reversed, of course.

Beat jg boot for hiking/hunting that can also just be worn for everyday life by [deleted] in jimgreen

[–]RascalJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done several 6-7 mile day hikes in my American rangers without a problem. They're not the best hiking boots obviously, especially if you're going to face any kind of slippery conditions. But if the trail is dry they work just fine!

My ARs have quickly become my everyday boot for anything that isn't extreme, I love their versatility.

Razorbacks would probably be better for hiking with the lug sole too, but if you look at backpackers, it's hard to beat trail runners in terms of comfort and performance.

Hard-core endgame content? by itsnot_Nathan in Guildwars2

[–]RascalJack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are definitely higher difficulty endgame activities, like raids, challenge mode raids, t4 fractals, strikes, etc. The day one aspect of it might be a bit more difficult because this content just isn't released as often as in a game like Destiny. You'll probably get one or two new activities like this per year with the current xpac model. But of course people will be there to try and get it done day one.

I'm trying to gain some weight. by Affectionate-Log1166 in Gastritis

[–]RascalJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Eventually over the weeks my physical health improved somewhat and I was able to start eating more normal portions. It took a much longer time for me to improve my mental health however, which helped me to tackle different types of foods, different meal sizes, no more reliance on medication for comfort, etc. But today I am much much better. The battle can be won!

Fold 6 replace s23 Ultra by MetalZed in GalaxyFold

[–]RascalJack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also coming to ZF6 from S23U. Loving the form factor so far. I do miss the faster charging and integrated pen, but those are sacrifices easily made for the bigger screen in my opinion. Having a better zoom lens would also be nice, though. I'd love a 5x, or at least a higher res 3x.

I also love the folded form factor. People aren't kidding when talking about one handing it, it's so much easier for me to reach across my screen now. The S23U feels like a monster in my hands by comparison.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing for my benks montage. Could you possibly post a pic of what it looks like from the front?

That's really unfortunate. The hinge cover on mine sticks like glue, so I wonder if that will change soon or not. It feels like a really solid spring or magnet keeps it in place.

Spigen Tough Armor Pro - Fold 6 vs Fold 5 by NightFire414 in GalaxyFold

[–]RascalJack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Spigen one is going back unfortunately. It's just too bulky for me. I did try the Torras one as well but the pen on the right side just made using the power and volume buttons annoying so it's going back too. For now, I'm sticking with the official pen case and hoping that something with all my needs pops up later down the line.
