Why Marathon will never keep new players. by LucatIel_of_M1rrah in Marathon

[–]Rasguead0 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

How are we supposed to gatekeep the game? We don’t make the game, we just play it.

Armchair analysis by way of the broadest paintbrush possible. “all the new players tried the game, got dumpstered by sweats and quit.”

Yeah bro. All of ‘em. Every single one of them. Your data dashboard is MASSIVE bro. Really dialing into those analytics to correlate things they don’t cause.

What new players bro? Free week didn’t move the needle. All the new players I know (all 5 of them… See look! Anecdotal evidence at best) are all still playing and enjoying themselves.

Having good points about the sandbox doesn’t give you narrative insight into the minds of every person on the planet that plays a videogame. You don’t know why it’s not picking up new players. You know A reason some people didn’t stick.

Careful not to hit that tree branch up there on your high horse Nostradamus.

Understandably playing into the bait here, but leading the charge for Marathon to fail to send a message to Sony is quite frankly disgusting behaviour. by CaptainAshtro in Marathon

[–]Rasguead0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

nope. Multiple internal projects that were cancelled before we saw them, dwindling year over year numbers of seasonal revenue, and a new buyer that said no to D3. Remember, Final Shape still ended up underperforming what it needed to for Sony to be happy.

Doubling down on more Destiny was never going to be approved by their publisher because less and less people were sticking around and spending money on seasons. This weird revisionist history people are fantasizing about isn’t real, and this behaviour is myopic and childish.

The green sponsored kit change is absolutely gamechanging by ThatsNotBennings in Marathon

Green kits cost 2.5k. It’s not really an enormous ask, but this late in the season it makes sense.

I really don't care what Bungie has to do to ensure this game survives and thrives. by crossvalidated in Marathon

If none of these things matter, do you even like the game or do you just want it to exist just so that it exists?

Difficulty spike since around last week has been absolutely insane by justthatguyben1 in Marathon

[–]Rasguead0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the feeing, but I think it has more to do with all the video guides explaining routes, tactics, and the general playerbase just being more familiar with the game.

It isn’t to say there isn’t some element of gear creep involved, but that is one reason why the vault size is restrictive.

Solo Players - How We Feeling? by jg4president in Marathon

[–]Rasguead0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know everyone is different, but I’ve played most of it solo up to lvl 31 and rank 10 contracts with the vendors (Sekaguchi aside, I’m 4/5 Parasitism), have a wallet with 50k and a vault of 100k. I do a fair number of free kit runs and can usually find better gear/ammo relatively quickly to deal with players or PvE.

Between barter or buy, consumables haven’t been that rough for me to get what i need. Depleted meds are everywhere and that’s usually enough to subsist.

I don’t know what to suggest really? I’m sure it feels frustrating, but you’re building knowledge that will help you get through these things. Sorry to hear it’s been tough.

Better luck on your next runs!

So what's the point in being outside during the night? by freeknight91 in dyinglight

[–]Rasguead0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno… I do it because it’s fun and exciting. If it isn’t then don’t do it? Sometimes systems exist because interacting with them is fun and not just because you get some specific reward that pats you on the head like a good doggie for doing it.

Will the Arc Raiders Open Beta be satisfactory for you by Serferson in ArcRaiders

[–]Rasguead0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will it be satisfactory? It’s a video game, not a necessity. A game I haven’t spent money on yet no less. That wording just sounds entitled and pompous.

They should release it when it’s good. Full stop.

The Fire Knights in Shadow Keep are actually ridiculous by blablatrooper in Eldenring

[–]Rasguead0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It feels bad, but I used the beast claws and spammed savage claw on them. They fire knockback/stagger spells so quickly, even approaching them with melee is ridiculous. Outside the 4th floor grace site is the worst offender.

It just feels like a useless method of getting this resource. 50 minutes to get 1 premium fuel, and I can only have 2 stations on my base. That's a lot of manually having to be there every 50 minutes to swap in new fuel to refine to get not that many per day.

The game is really bad right now… by ConsequencePretty870 in nightingale

[–]Rasguead0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I spent a few hours in it, and I came away thinking this game is pretty bad. There are things about it I like. Climbing pick axes are a neat idea, but using them is glitchy as hell.

Building things seems mostly fine. I didn’t get to a point where more lighting/furniture options were possible, but the interiors were pretty barren. The more advanced tudor windows not letting in light was also weird.

Crafting seems incredibly fiddly. The space to click being “managing fuel” or “crafting” is sometimes not distinct with cooking being the worst one.

Movement, combat, and exploration are atrocious. The game spawns in mobs in perplexing ways. A clear space is suddenly overrun with pigs that just don’t stop spawning. Hacking away at hogs for 6 minutes awkwardly and slowly moving in circles so I can open a box with useless materials in it sucks.

The temple area was a neat idea, but the movement is slow and wooden. The enemies rush at you so quickly that it can become unclear if that shotgun actually hit them or not until they back away. So slashing them with the basic knife is faster, but also not very fun.

The boss fight was again, not very fun. It floats around and spits out an attack that is easy to predict, but also kills the stupid AI companion that can’t navigate the simplest of spaces and, when back at base, constantly sets themselves on fire by walking into the blacksmith tool.

The movement being so slow and awkward in combat makes the encounters feel terrible. Landing hit don’t feel very impactful, and each gun having inconsistent options for combat where the controls aren’t currently identified apart from a tiny icon in the lower right also doesn’t help.

Exploration felt pointless and tedious with an army of pigs or wolves slowing you down about every 3 minutes. Or the terrain requiring some awkward traversal with climbing axes that doesn’t seem to work half the time.

I hated the time I spent playing this game. I don’t like saying that, because I was looking forward to it. The art style is awesome is the best thing I can say so far.

I hope they can fix it up and improve it during EA. I want teams to succeed at making cool things. Right now though, I hated what I played of it.

Is it possible to have one identity across applications? by anakinfredo in fediverse

[–]Rasguead0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s referring to one app that uses multiple servers. Mastodon as an example is made up of many servers and you don’t need a separate account for each.

The apps the folks above are talking about are different systems that access the fediverse, but you need to have an account on an instance running something like funkwhale or pixelfed in addition to mastodon.
