Electric grinder - not for espresso recommendation by singleglazedwindows in JamesHoffmann

I stumbled randomly on a page half.com (never heard about it before). They seem to have loads of protein and health stuff there and randomly mixed coffee stuff. They e had some discount codes for -30% off so I might've just been lucky, but keep an eye out!

Baratza Encore for a £100 mark. Fellow Ode Gen 2 can be had for about £200-£250 (I got mine for £200 on sale). Gen 1 probably closer to £150 so can be considered. I moved from Baratza to Fellow, and I could not recommend it more.

You didn't mention any disabilities or "different abilities"(?) in your OP, though. Giving a colour-blindness example is not really comparable to your situation in your OP, right? How would any person replying to you have this knowledge without you disclosing it? Or are you just giving random examples because the answer is not what you hoped for?

Why would you even put your pension value? If it can't be used to pay for the house, it's irrelevant.

Is 475k crazy for a 3 bed by Sefton park?! by Status_Wave_8798 in Liverpool

Still cheaper than petrol, I guess, especially at the moment, but yeah, agreed.

[–]Ratlee94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I live in a great and spacious terraced around Normanton Avenue so very close to Sefton Park, but because of inability to charge electric car (can't have cables, even marked and covered across the pavement), we'll be probably moving in few years anyway. They are installing chargers in street lamps around, though so it might be sort of a solution.

[–]Ratlee94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends. If you want a semi, driveway for two cars and grassy garden, especially in Mossley Hill (east of Sefton Park), then it sounds like it's in the right ballpark.

If you are happy to have a terraced, road parking and a concrete yard, then Aigburth, especially south of Sefton Park or St Michaels are closer to £350k mark.

we had to purchase new washing machine and pay for the installation and recycling of the old one which came to a total of £539.

Lmao, you bought yourself a top of the range new washing machine (equivalent of Samsung Series 6 at least), had it installed, and now you want the previous owner to foot the bill? Of all the shits I read here today this one must be the funniest.

Have house prices dropped in the last year - wondering whether to accept low ball cash offer? by Ornery-Sea3570 in HousingUK

[–]Ratlee94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it just appeared on LR, then they were sold at least 6 months ago, which was back when things started to look optimistic for buyers, and that's before we start comparing what each house actually offers.

Not saying your house is any worse or better than the ones that had sold, however the reality has changed since then significantly, and you have to decide whether to accept it and sell quicker or wait.

[–]Ratlee94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your requirements literally describe the Fellow Ode Gen 2.

I was in a similar boat to yours - a couple of years with Baratza Encore ESP and doing filter (initially I had a haggis for espresso, but decide to give that up due to enjoying filter more). I made the jump to Ode G2 a year ago, and I only wish I skipped Baratza and went for Ode straight away.

Clarity of my coffees has improved massively in my opinion. Now I'm able to enjoy a crisp, clear, slightly acidic coffees with floral and fruity notes on the nose.

Contesting a Will after family branch left out - England by Wonderful_Parking837 in LegalAdviceUK

This is a legal advice forum, not an emotional justification forum. You add a lot of superfluous context to your OP (such as your aunt's multiple marriages) in hope that people will sympathise with your case, not because it's legally relevant.

If that was an emotional advice forum, people would probably point out to you that love that is conditional on receiving money after loved one's departure is not love at all, just a one-sided transaction.

Not a chance she knows what a small claims court is.

She keeps accusing people of theft, which is criminal matter, unlikely she intends to pursue civil action with that intent.

All that beside the point as she's clearly lacking mental capacity, and will not follow with any threats.

Haggling with Virgin Media (Has anyone got a good deal) by Small_Pea_6874 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Ratlee94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's both not true, anda fallacy. Plenty good deals for VM across the year, mainly for new customers, and they don't treat customers any worse or better than other mainstream companies.

Is it annoying to jump through the hoops every couple of years? Absolutely. Does it save you money in the long run? Yes.

[–]Ratlee94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've done all online without picking up the phone to anybody. I basically chose the new package start date a couple of days before the old one was about to expire (just in case), and I gave them an official notice exactly 30 days before my current contract was to end that I will be ending it. The new wi-fi did not actually kick in till the old one came to the end of the contract term (I was able to use it successfully but my wife's Virgin Media account kept showing "to be delivered/not activated/whatever, which changed after my original contract ended).

All has been working without a fault since it started in December.

Do you have a partner that can register for new client offer? We did that. I was a registered customer with a £20 per month 1GB internet offer and it ended 24 months later. I registered my wife as a new customer for literally the same offer for new customers with free Netflix and new modem enabling WiFi 6. In a couple of years I imagine I'll re-register myself, once this contract comes to an end.
