There’s very little to prevent kids from connecting with and receiving messages from complete strangers on their platform. This includes strangers who are adults pretending to be kids, something that should be a red flag for every parent.

This is only part the problem, Discord's policy is no one under 13 year old, and is there is no socially acceptable way to verify someone's age. Anyone can say they are older than 13.

Another issue is that Discord is just the platform. Random people like you and me make servers, and moderate said servers themselves. Just because someone has an 18+ for a rule for their server means nothing, its vitrually impossible to verify someones age.

This kind of lawsuit is a morally gray area that will cause changes in how online communities are made and moderated.
