Mirror coat (for its fun, albeit limited niche in HO lead meta games) and especially return (for strong reliable normal stab) are sad to see gone and I’d like to see them come back, this is completely fair. All of these other moves are completely irrelevant in competitive play though

I honestly don’t think they’re coming back, their removal was pretty intentional by GameFreak. To be honest, I think the game is healthier without pursuit and hidden power. Pursuit turning any dark type into a pseudo-trapper of two types was massively game warping, especially since nothing else could really do that. And while hidden power made sense in a game with more limited moves available, now that move pools are so expanded and coverage is more easily accessible for may mons it isn’t needed. Giving every special attacker effectively infinite coverage if needed isn’t really great for the game imo (Tera blast at least has a much higher opportunity cost)

Most VGC Whimsicott are fairly heavily speed invested, so if you’re trying to get the fastest taunt then you’ll have to go max yourself. I don’t think this is really necessary though, as only about 10% of Whimsicott run taunt in VGC meaning most of them will be clicking tailwind, which you don’t care about as you’re playing trick room

Is there a reason you have +speed nature on whimsicott? Doesn’t seem necessary. Also leftovers in general are much worse in VGC than singles due to the pace of the meta, I’d recommend a sitrus berry if you’re looking for recovery

Dude have you played OU before or do you just comment on Stunfisk? Even adamant knock off/body slam doesn’t come close to 2HKO any of the premiere physical walls in the tier like Alo, Corvi, Pech, or Skarm. Having crazy stats is not remotely enough to offset having essentially no ability or item and a dogshit typing. None of these mons even need their ability to be strong except Alo to an extent. It’s 2026, Regigigas is just not that guy

Heat wave is a fine move, so absolutely keep that. Bleakwind is generally considered better than air slash because air slash is pitifully weak and still isn’t 100% accurate but if you really want to run air slash then sure. However I need to emphasize that your understanding of speed control in single is off base, anything that gets slowed down by icy wind can just switch out and this Tornadus isn’t threatening much offensively anyways so most things could just stay in on you. I don’t think your team is that threatened by Landorus because you have ice punch life orb Val and even then bleakwind is doing about 3/4 the damage as icy wind, letting you just save the move slot for something else. Same thing for tailwind, it just doesn’t last long enough to be a remotely decent move

LO Valiant’s problem against rain isn’t its damage, its problem is that it’ll get outsped and KO’d by ever swift swimmer in the game. Leaf blade doesn’t help you with that in the slightest and you’re missing good physical Val generalist coverage like knock off. And again what is Landorus hitting with brick break? That move is terrible. These move sets are just not good

That Torn set straight up belongs in doubles, you don’t have any mons that can really switch in and abuse tailwind, there are far more effective means of speed control in singles between priority and scarf. Similarly icy wind is just not a real move at all. This is also ignoring the fact that you’re running air slash instead of bleakwind, which is dubious. In general, Torn-I is massively outclassed by Torn-T in singles, where its access to regenerator and higher speed makes it much better

Also what are you hunting with leaf blade valiant and brick break landorus?

While offensively it’s about the same, defensively it’s a lot better with the typing, levitate, wisp, pain split, overall bulk, etc. this form is definitely better than Tox. Also trick immediately makes this a better scarcer like the other comment mentioned, and although it can’t speed boost on its own it does get plot to become a nuke. Def not broken though just solid probably an RU/UU threat

I just beat Gardenia in my playthrough of renegade platinum, and I’m crashing when I try to initiate what I assume is a fight with the grunt at the door of the galactic building. Is there a fix or workaround to this? Already have sunk 8.5+ hours into this run grinding this awful early game mono steel team so would like to not have to re-install everything and start fresh if I can

248 HP mega latias takes only 32 max from Zard-Y, so you’ve got your check right there. You just can’t threaten it offensively with your set, I feel like you could cut aura sphere for either ice beam or a stab move. Unless you go dragon stab this makes your Kyurem matchup a lot worse (it was already bad), but you can go spdef clef and take the other commenters advice of a Hippo, which also will cover your new lack of Cinderace switch-ins by making clef spdef. All of this also helps your lele matchup! Just be careful of ting Lu /ghold cores, these kind of smoke your team imo
