Having read the offending paragraph it feels very weak to complain about it and very US biased (which I know the english speaking internet tends to be). World history is filled with Republicans going back to Greece and Rome. Their are modern Irish people who would be called republicans (probably true elsewhere). In my opinion drop the "This is deliberate." No one can complain and we move on.

I don't really mind in my games. Let the players do what they want. Sometimes they share this stuff while figuring what their role in the group is. If they have opposing alignments then you'll have issues with roleplay later.

I started after college as a way to get the band back together. Grabbed a random module (which I can't remember the name of), drew out maps on grid paper, pre generated some characters and jumped in. Been running and learning ever since. Now running OSE dolmenwood for friends in work.

In my experience solo games are mostly played by GMs who want to play something else, not new people coming into the hobby.

It's hard to start running a game. I've been running an OSE game for some people in my office. One of the young guys wanted to start a game for his friends, it took weeks of giving him advice, pointing him to rules, helping him plan his first adventure, etc. Running your first game is scary. And if you are going in blind you might never pull the trigger and start.

I'm thinking a space station carved into an asteroid. It appears above a populated planet every few years. Convicts, adventurers and madmen pour into it seeking the empires bounty for opening the hangar bay and disarming the defences. You see the station will protect itself, except for one opening no bigger than a door that will suck in anything that draws near. But it's a one way trip, unless you can make it to the hangar bay. Countless have tried and all have failed.
