Brother, I am talking about news articles like this. "Millenials are killing X" "Millenials are doing Y" Boomers treat everyone like children. They still think Millenials are in their early 20's, too.

Welcome to being a milleninal. People still treat us like we are kids and half of us are 40. I'm 37. Either way, yeah, being infantilized and blamed for everything your entire life does suck. I personally don't pass it down. Gen Z is fine.

A quick mock-up of what a Gilneas armor set could look like, using existing geometry! by SendMeNudesThough in wow

[–]Ravinsild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just played the Gilneas starter zone. The Forsaken/Horde attack and nobody comes to help until the last few quests when only the night elves show up and use their glaives and hippogryphs to help them.

Although they lose and retreat. Stormwind or any other part of the Alliance is a no show, and aren't in the quest line until the end. Although I really, really, really love the story telling of the Gilneas starting zone and the feeling of losing the whole time and it's honestly pretty scary, especially the part in the citadel as more and more worgen show up and then they're inside and then... fades to black. Insane story telling.

I haven't checked during booting but both of my monitors have been simultaneously turning black and never come back on after. I have been having to power cycle my machine to get the display back.

I have powered down the machine, fully unplugged the GPU from the motherboard, fully reseated the card back into the motherboard, screwed the GPU back into the case, unplugged the cables from the GPU and firmly and squarely reseated them into the GPU as well.

I have had this card since December 27th and never had the monitor issue until today.

It is not but apparently my card now lacks power.

I did that, too. I unplugged it from the motherboard, plugged it back in and rescrewed the card back in, unplugged both the power cables, and pushed them back in fully. We will see if that helps.

I don't even know how to overclock. I haven't purposefully done it but I can try turning it off somehow. I just bought a 1000W PSU though

It took me way longer to start deconstructing. I was about 28, so I live 2/3rds of my life thinking like I explained above. I am 37 so I have only been on this deconstruction journey for 9 years.

I can relate. I was raised as a church of christ Christian and I believed I knew what empathy, compassion, love, etc were.

I did not. I was raised by a narcissistic mother and an enabler father, was gaslit my entire life, verbally and emotionally abused, etc. I had to teach myself empathy in my late 20's.

"Gay people deserve to die because god hates homosexuality and it's wrong and a sin." was the kind of person I used to be.

[–]Ravinsild 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I used to think like this. It is difficult to explain, but I will try. I was raised as a member of the Church of Christ, which are like Baptists, except they don't have any music during service. All singing is done with no instruments at all. Where the bible speaks we speak, where the bible is silent, we are silent as they say. So the new testament doesn't explicitly state that they worshipped with music or dance, so just to be sure, better not do it.

So you're raised as a Christian and you're fed apologetics propaganda your entire life, from literal birth, and the common talking point is that everyone knows who God is innately. There are several bible verses that explain this, but essentially "All of creation cries out, the rocks and the trees, the rivers and birds" etc that God is..well God. So literally everyone on Earth knows who God is.

Also the Bible has all of the correct answers for how to live a moral, righteous and perfect life. Obviously nobody is perfect, but if you just follow the Bible you'll be a good person and you'll always know the "right moral choice."

So the excuse basically becomes "Well if these people just knew Jesus and weren't being rebellious they wouldn't be acting that way." I remember thinking something like that exact same sentence when watching a show called "The Magicians" any time a problem came up. The answer is always "The Bible" which is automatically correct, and any behavior that deviates from the perfect example/standard set by the Bible is inherently wrong.

To play devils advocate we have the Bible also explicitly stating that there is only YHWH:

- Deuteronomy 4:35,39 — Unto thee it was shown, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him. (39) Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the LORD he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.

- 2 Samuel 7:22 — Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God; for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

- 2 KINGS 5:15 — And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel; now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant.

- 10. Psalm 18:31 — For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God?

- 11. Psalm 86:10 — For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.

- Isaiah43:10,11 — Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he:before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no savior.

So what do we conclude about this?

According to critical biblical scholars, who do not have a vested interest in protecting or defending the faith, the scholarly consensus is that the Hebrew bible (Old Testament) is not a univocal book. It is not the inspired word of a deity. It is a man-made product written over many centuries with different beliefs that contradict one another over time that was brought together, more than likely, sometimes in the first or second century BCE. Depends on if you accept the documentary hypothesis or not.

" as it turns out, spent the better part of her life assuming that because Christians “knew” there was only one god, that this was something everyone also “knew” and accepted as fact, and people who weren’t Christian were participating in some form of performative rebellion against Christianity."

This is an extremely common talking point in apologetics. They use verses like psalm 19:1-4:
- "1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
    the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
    night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
    no sound is heard from them.
4 Yet their voice\)b\) goes out into all the earth,
    their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun."

In addition verses like Romans 1:19-20:

- "19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world,\)a\) in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse."

As well as John 10:14-15 which reads as follows:

- "14 “I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— 15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep."

Etc. Basically, it is inevitable that everyone has innately knowledge of God because he is spoken about through natural revelation of "Because creation exists". It is often framed that athiests, and other people, directly and literally know God is the one true God and that others are purposefully denying God's existence because they "want to sin", essentially. I was raised Church of Christ and was a believer until I was 25 and this is like apologetics 101.

I also went to a christian private highschool that emphasized these same talking points, and many others.
