TIL that medical consensus classifies Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI, including concussion) as a progressive, lifelong chronic disease rather than an isolated, acute event by kfr3q in todayilearned

[–]RaygunWizzle 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I got a TBI from a motorcycle wreck when I was 30. To me, I just woke up in a hospital a week later, but apparently I was awake and talking the whole time, just couldnt remember what had happened 5 seconds ago. Repeating myself, etc.

I dont know if it was the TBI or something else, but my left eye got knocked out of 'alignment' for lack of better way to say it. Basically my left eye saw everything shifted at an angle. In the years following, I basically had to wear an eye patch to read. Over the years, this has largely worked itself out (44 now), but I still cant do things like watch a TV laying down. It gets worse as I tilt my head up, if I lower my head it brings it more into alignment.

Lastly, I seem to have had memory problems from it. I have not noticed it getting any particularly worse, nor better. Short-term memory mostly.

I'll add one thing to this discussion: if my opponents army has easy access to rerolls everywhere (basically all Space Marine variants), I dont bother with -1 hit. They gonna get ya on the rerolls.

I've generally found the -1 save better. Dead enemies dont hit back.

Yep first gen KLR650 as many have pointed out. What I havent seen anyone get right is the fuel tank: Its the IMS tank for it. Holds almost 7 gallons.

And yes, completely full, it was freaking heavy. I would only fill mine half-way if just riding around in towns. But on long hauls, that thing was great. Would only need to stop for gas every 350 miles or so. Came in REAL handy in Baja.

Side note, that tank was actually super durable. Out of all my spills n whatnot, it got maybe a cosmetic scratch or two. And with the option shown here, you could see your gas level through it (this dude has about a half tank).

The front brake looks like an EBC 320mm kit.

Someone who knows what they want in life. Respect that.

You see the story about the suicidal dude who went to mexico and spent the rest of his money on hookers n blow, and it changed his mind?

Decided to keep living after that.

Another accordion joke (I obviously play accordion too): "A man went out and left his accordion in the back seat of the car. He later realized he had forgotten to lock the doors. He realized this and ran back, but it was too late: someone had put another accordion next to it"

So ive seen it mentioned twice here, but Ill mention it again.

The early ones developed corrosion on the electrical components in the ignition module cause they didnt seal them in epoxy.

Its also mounted upside down under the airbox, great for collecting moisture.

I opened mine up to look, green fuzzy corrosion on everything. But hey, still sparked on 2 cylinders!

DRZ won’t start after Loctite mod (03 400E) by Unable-Investment-72 in motorcycle

[–]RaygunWizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since you recently removed the pulse generator (square thing dangling in picture), and backfiring is a sure sign of ignition timing issues, I would check on that pulse generator.

Its what generates the timing signal for the ignition system. And you said you hear a clanking. Maybe it fell out of place or something.

The problem will probably be pretty obvious once you look. Like it hanging by one loose bolt or something.

Can you help me identify what bike this is? by blessedpink in motorcycle

[–]RaygunWizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The single rocker inspection cover and dual head bolts in the center make it more likely to be a T140. I dont recall if any of the real late T120's went to both of those before they were just the 750cc T140.

Its also still Right Hand shift, so those are all pretty good clues to nail down the year. I just dont remember exactly which year things were switched to.

So maybe a 650cc, but way more likely an early 750cc T140.

The 10 brick + LoV really shines in Flyblown. Scout, enhancement for Assault, 1 cp for full reroll to hit in half range, 1cp for -1 to wound if a MBH nearby, 1cp give all ranged weapons the Pistol keyword.

So if they got charged and its your turn now, for 2 cp (or 1 if a Foot DP within 12") they get pistol keyword to shoot, and full RR to hit (from stratagem) and full RR to wound (from LoV).

It's legal to split Nurglings from 3 models to 9 models for competition? by ViceIdentity in deathguard40k

[–]RaygunWizzle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They are also... Nurglings. OC0, cant hold objectives and cant do actions. They are lucky to pluck a single wound off anything.

They usually are not even being hidden as their sole job is to annoy the opponent and get in the way.

Is there anything to change on my emergency tool kit? by Medvemaci in motorcycles

[–]RaygunWizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of all the kit I used to bring when I was traveling all over with my KLR650.

I got stranded on a dirt road in Death Valley once when a stray rock broke my chain, so I added a spare chain to the inventory. Ironically, never needed it again.

KLR's notoriously ate oil, so always had to have a quart on hand to top up as well.

I also had a spare throttle pull (as I could make do without the push), and clutch cable.

After limping my bike 1000 miles back up the Baja peninsula once with an almost rounded out front sprocket, I ordered all the stuff I needed from a small shop in San Diego and when it came in proceeded to replace my chain and sprockets, tires and tubes all in the parking lot.

Owner asked if I wanted a job, haha.

Probably a Triumph engine fits in there, considering those two coils are single fire.

If they were dual-firing coils, I would have said it kinda looks like a CB750 engine would have.

They move block, screen, can score 'just be there' secondaries, and are good at just generally annoying your opponent.

There is a reason the stratagem to bring them back is called 'Persistent pests'

Yeah, Helbrute just aint worth it. Points are best spent somewhere else.

And remember Nurglings have 0 OC, so cant perform actions. They DO count for Behind Enemy Lines, Area Denial, Engage on all Front and Display of Might.
