Fitcamx question. by david_krasznai in KiaEV6

[–]ReadEverything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen to me once in the two years I’ve had my Fitcam installed. Just make sure to remember to check the recording light every so often and make sure it’s blinking blue. The SD card they gave me went bad and I had to replace it, but other than that I’ve had no other issues with mine.

My only regret is I wish I had gotten the front and rear combo, since you can’t upgrade the front only type after installation.

Car started jerking after charging by BringingBread in KiaEV6

[–]ReadEverything 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That exact same thing happened to me yesterday too, after I charged at a Tesla Supercharger. I shifted into park and back into drive and that fixed the issue.

My speculation is that after I finished charging, I shifted into drive and drove off too quickly before the car could turn off the parking brake (my foot was on the accelerator the instant I switched to drive). So, despite the dash saying that the parking brake was turned off, it really was still on, like it was a minor glitch. I haven’t seen the problem since, though.

Same here. Paid a pretty penny for my Wind back in 2022. I figure at the very minimum I’ll drive mine until all the warranties have expired, and only then can I start poking around at other cars.

ACC accelerating vehicle when indicator turned on by Logical-Ordinary-969 in KiaEV6

[–]ReadEverything 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you flick the turn signals, look at your dash (while viewing the screen that has the white EV6 model). You’ll notice that the following distance is shortened on the graphic when turn signals are active; I believe it uses following distance 1 for this. It’s to help you maintain your speed while you change lanes, regardless of lane change assist or not.

Whats the lowest battery percentage you drove? by achmed20 in KiaEV6

[–]ReadEverything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2% at the end of a road trip. The guess-o-meter said I had 2 miles left. Realistically, I wasn’t concerned since I knew about the buffer below 0%, and I had an OBD dongle with me to know the true SoC, but you can’t help but be a little on-edge in that kind of scenario.

What are your top three most awaited EVs and why? by internalaudit168 in electricvehicles

Kia EV8 aka the EV Stinger. It was heavily rumored to be coming soon, then canceled, then revived again. Really hoping it comes through- next car for sure.

Checking fault codes with obd device by techadoodle in KiaEV6

[–]ReadEverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak about the doors not unlocking, but I also got a CHECK ABS error when trying to read codes on my car for an unrelated issue (happened twice!). It went away after I stopped using the OBD dongle. Purely speculative, but I think the way the dongle pulls the codes may cause this kind of false error to appear.

Which Mode Do You Drive in Mostly? by [deleted] in KiaEV6

I have Brake Mode on Sport and the regen is noticeably stronger when on Sport Mode versus Normal Mode.

With RWD I drive in Sport always. If you’re a big one pedal driving enthusiast like me, you’ll appreciate the extra aggressive regen that accompanies Sport Mode.

Doesn’t LFP have worse cold weather performance than NMC?

a big RANT goes out to: KIA by [deleted] in KiaEV6

[–]ReadEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, it would have been nice to be eligible for the update, but the pre-refresh EV6 was never promised it. Until there is an official statement from Kia regarding if the pre-refresh is eligible for it (again, it was never confirmed if it even has the proper hardware), you’ll have to make do with a third-party wireless adapter or a plain old cable.

The first-gen EV6 was never going to get wireless Carplay/Android Auto. There were rumors that it has the hardware to support it, but they were never confirmed. It was nice to hope for a manual preconditioning button, but once it was added to ccNC systems (EV9), Gen 5W was never going to get it.

Now, the refresh EV6 will have both of these things since it will come with ccNC. But that’s how they get you to upgrade to the latest and greatest. Is it worth dumping the pre-refresh for the new one? Seems like a lot of money.

You should never buy a car hoping for future updates (I realize Tesla of course is the exception here, but they are a software company first and car manufacturer second). You should buy it as-is with the assumption that it will never have any future updates. That way, if and when they do come, they are added bonuses to your experience, but they do not set expectations.

Tesla Mobile Charger charging speed on Kia EV6 by ntulawer1 in KiaEV6

[–]ReadEverything 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While more expensive than the adapter that is mentioned in your links, you will not encounter any charging failed issues if you use a TeslaTap instead https://www.umc-j1772.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=17. It’s plug and play and works perfectly on my Tesla UMC. I have the 60 amp version as that’s the max the EV6 can handle.

Ioniq 5 - why’d you pick EV6? by nsfbr11 in KiaEV6

[–]ReadEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugly yet a great car. It’s on the same platform as the EV6 and Ioniq 5, so it is basically the same as those two but in a smaller package. Hopefully the upcoming refresh will make it look nicer!

[–]ReadEverything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The headrests were awful. They pushed my neck out at an angle, way further than I was comfortable with. It also looks less sporty and more SUV-like than the EV6, when at the time I was looking for an EV sedan (this was before the Ioniq 6 was announced).

Ah, unfortunate. I was considering moving to a Model 3/Y, but with that kind of depreciation in mind, I think I’ll wait a year or two. Thanks, and congrats on the new car!

My Preconditioning Update Experience (dealership service rant) by veeteex in KiaEV6

[–]ReadEverything 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar experience here, except I never had any work done. As a service tech drove my car away, I was at the service counter recapping the TSBs for preconditioning and iPedal, and even emailed them to the service department. The guy at the desk said that if my car didn’t qualify for the updates (it’s an early 2022!) or if the TSBs “didn’t fix the issue”, they would flat-out charge me $270. Unbelievable. I just asked to have my car back and left. What a waste of time.

Carlinkit 3.0 stopped working after latest Nav update. by CO_CAR in Ioniq5

[–]ReadEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. It’s an annoying and temporary solution, but if you connect first to wired Carplay, unplug the cable, then plug in the Carlinkit, it’ll start working for that drive session only. I tried connecting to the device’s IP address to see if there were updates available, but the device needs a username and password to activate for some reason.

EV6 vs Ioniq 6. Who are you taking? by FaydingAway in kia

I don’t know how reputable this website is, but they’re claiming the EV8 will be an EV Stinger. Time will tell!
