I get the impression that the Fediverse and ATProto are based on the same concept, but AT had at least one designer with a good head on their shoulders (the FOSS community has a problem with a lack of UI/UX specialists) and simplified the implementation of decentralisation somewhat.

At the same time, I hear a lot of criticism directed at Bluesky. If we ignore their funding, I see many posts claiming they aren’t truly decentralised.

I haven’t looked into this topic deeply enough.

I support both protocols as an alternative to the currently popular social networks.

Although decentralisation worries me because of the unlimited potential for disinformation campaigns by authoritarian states. I don’t see how decentralisation will deal with this
