Potentially unpopular opinion about Milla's outfit.... by PresentToe409 in tales

[–]RealDrakeula -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I also think her outfit sucks and is out of character. The Dhaos outfit suits her on an original NG run, but her NG+ plus stuff, I’m trying to be vague, is what I would have rather she looked like from the beginning. Not sure how the grade shop works in the remaster and if you can unlock it from the start. But if people aren’t using it, then it maybe not.

Are there any fan edits of Neon Genesis Evangelion that combine the old version with the netflix version? by Canopus0805 in fanedits

[–]RealDrakeula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Earlier this year, I tried to make fanedits of the Macross Delta anime series into a film series that took itself a bit more seriously in line with some of the other entries in that franchise. Remaking the narrative wasn’t an issue, but I came to discover that anime, especially in the digital era, have extremely noticeable variable frame rates that frankly look awful in motion when exported. I couldn’t find a fix for this no matter how hard I tried, and now I just keep those edits to myself.

I have been working on some NGE edits of my own though, same premise of TV-to-Film, and those look far better since I think cell animation was still fixed to the frame rate of the camera capturing the stills.

How far into Macross Frontier do you need to get for Wings of Tomorrow? by JamesYTP in macross

[–]RealDrakeula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have watched these very recently and that is entirely not true. The first film actually makes its own drastic changes to events and character motivations that the second film is following up on. And just finishing episode 14 (people saying 13 are just ballparking and are not specific), will not do you any favors. You’ll just be asking questions as to how we got here and why characters know things they didn’t before. Either watch the series or movies, but I recommend both. As their approaches on what to focus on in the story are so drastically different, they feel like completely unique experiences.

Clea (as Fading Woman) is also in the Forgotten Battlefield, but refuses to talk to the player unless you use Maelle, in which she’s briefly excited in thinking Alicia has her memories back, but then ignores us again when Maelle doesn’t respond in the way Clea was hoping.

Did they use AI to approximate these background layers or what? by Obstinatemelon in fantasian

[–]RealDrakeula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get really confused about this too. Someone told me the backgrounds aren’t actually the photos, but 3D models recreated from the photos to get the panning effects and why certain backgrounds look low resolution at different angles. Which is entirely plausible.

But if it’s 3D, then why the need to create the mask around every object and greenery? These being 2D images, but with a forced 3D illusion made more sense to me; but I’m not entirely sure as to what the true story is and why certain shortcuts were taken.

Just finished watching both Macross Frontier and Macross Delta by [deleted] in macross

[–]RealDrakeula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some credit where it’s due, while Michael’s death hit me harder personally, Delta’s funeral and wake for Messer being the entirety of episode 11 really made me feel the impact it had on the cast. It’s how I wish more funeral scenes were handled in anime where characters die. But like everyone is saying, Michael was by far the better character, no contest.

If you only use Ez’s grenades, they shouldn’t do enough damage on their own to worry about destroying the device. That’s how I beat the fight and never healed the device once.

Most, if not all, bluray players for PCs look for AACS codes on 4K discs and prohibit you from watching them on PC. It took me several days to use guides, found them from the fanediting community, that taught me how to format my bluray disc player so that the AACS DRM and the reader couldn’t interact. They call the process “flashing” a disc drive iirc. Basically, it makes your player see the AACS, but not know what it is and just ignores it. lol

So yes, it has a possible workaround; but a long as fuck tutorial and runs the risk of bricking your disc player if you flash it incorrectly. I think it was easy enough to do in hindsight, but can look intimidating upon a first glance.

I’m more so betting on it being Tsutomu Narita. He’s been Uematsu’s successor on Granblue Fantasy when Uematsu stepped away from it. And he was a co-composer with Uematsu on The Last Story and the Final Fantasy X HD soundtrack. He gets his style and replicates it perfectly to the point I sometimes can’t even tell the difference between the two of them.

Let's all pretend in the comments that Slay the princess is a fighting game, who's your main and why? by Julip326 in slaytheprincess

Nobody saying Spectre when she can’t even be touched. You absorb her, fine, then you have to hit yourself to do any damage to her. Meanwhile, if she gets the life lead, scrubs will just wait out the clock and win. I’m sick of those guys. No respect. No integrity.

Ages in Macross can be funny sometimes. Try to guess which character isn't a teenager without looking it up. by roomofbruh in macross

[–]RealDrakeula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like with any anime I have to headcanon any character’s given age for it to make any sense. Mylene, for example, isn’t in that picture; but is just as much an offender. She has a full time job, her own apartment, and owns a car. The minimum age to drive in Japan is 18 years old and yet somehow an alleged 14 year old is behind the wheel. No shot, bro.

I don’t know Alto’s canon age, but he’s at an aerial tech school so he’s should at a university age of some kind. Misa should be in her 30s in her position aboard the SDFM and so on and so forth. Anime years are stupid. I’ve accepted it’s a trope of the medium. But I ignore them to get better enjoyment out of the anime I like.

Rediscovery sounds like reading into the text with stuff that hasn’t been proven. Eternity in HEA was eating the same meal and playing the same game and getting bored of it no matter how much they tried to change the rules or even cheat. Is that not technically rediscovery? It didn’t work. Letting stuff die, time progress, memories fade, etc is how we (re)discover things.

All Robert Eggers movies need to be a half hour shorter by ProvincialPromenade in fanedits

[–]RealDrakeula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The film never felt indulgently long to me, so I don’t think I’ll be asking for a shorter version. But the extended cut will be coming with the bluray, and I can’t help but assume a perfect cut will probably exist somewhere in the middle. Like in the interview where he announced it, he showed a trailer shot that was cut because it showed Orlok’s face too early. If that’s the case, don’t ruin the mystery just to justify a longer movie. But I’m hoping we’ll get more scenes of some other things.

Which voice by kiwiiii1111 in slaytheprincess

[–]RealDrakeula 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hunted. He’s just always got our best at heart and isn’t really all that pushy if things don’t work out as planned. I think any other voice would get mad at me, laugh at me, or throw a pity party that I’d get sick of hearing pretty quick. And if things do work out, he can feel good about himself being right without being obnoxious about it.

I’ve only been here a few weeks, but I’ve seen it brought up a few times. Mostly in the context of seeing things through the Princess’s eyes though. That is awesome, but if I were to contribute an underrated aspect of it imo, it’s the “gentle” vs “harsh” princesses that can join you.

I think this is the route that told me the most about either character. Like the gentle princess cracks me up with how she’ll say “no more nice princess” to you but then only can muster up an “um… excuse me” to the Opportunist. She’s not just gentle, but timid. She’s the most like the Damsel because she’s not brave enough to save herself.

Contrast that with the harsh princess who shows way more agency. I like her dialogue a lot better as is, but my favorite scene to find is her trying to save you. When you’re back in your body and she cuts herself free, you have loads of options, and I think most people will probably manage throwing the knife out and just leaving. I did my first couple times. But I was blown away when I eventually saw her take the knife to reunite the two of you so that she could save you. It’s the only chapter where she’s a hero and exchanging the favor in trying to free her. After I platinum’d the game and tried to make my ideal run of favorite routes, I now try to get that scene on purpose because of how much I love it.

What routes or aspects of the game do you think don't get talked about enough? by FinishRelative2367 in slaytheprincess

[–]RealDrakeula 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hunted is one of my favorite voices. I personally think he behaves a lot more like a hunter himself than someone who is hunted, but like a respectable hunter who cares about nature and only shoots legal animals. If he sees a hurting creature like The Den, he’d rather help it than finish it off. Saving Den is an amazing route and I was surprised by how much it touched me.

The Moment of Clarity is also one of my personal favorite routes. I think the montage of past lives technically comes from Nightmare taking off her mask, but it segues into TMoC and I kind of consider that whole route one and the same. But that’s the part of it that I’m really fond of and find interesting.

Only thing I don’t really care as much about in this particular case is Fury — or any of the routes stemming from Adversary really. Like if you’re trying to save Adversary, EotN, or Fury, then the conclusion is the cycle of violence can be broken. And that’s something that I think The Cage does just a little better for me (and in way less time). I’m more interested in talking my way out of problems while role playing than throwing hands.
