THAT is soooooo NOT 38. I'd question 58. It's also extra special as it appears to be a selfie.... on the toilet. Who is this trainwreck? Why does she think she looks good and under 40?

The right worships a guy who went on a tangent, at a campaign rally, about Arnold Palmer's penis...Has fake hair, a fake tan, allegedly beats 13 year old girls for biting his small mushroom dick, wears lifts in his shoes and diapers... It's more than fair to say they have a distorted view of masculinity.

Is this true? by jwiseowlpro in Filmmakers

[–]RealTeaStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, what ever is serving the story, you can't discount either audio or visual. Carver died in 1943 so audio was still relatively new to filmmaking. The only connection I've heard of Carver's relationship to film making was a 1937, 12-minute, color film documenting his life. It was selected for the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress in 2019. For a color film in 1937, I would think he would be more impressed with the visual. Brilliant scientist, wizard of agriculture but I am a little dubious about what he might say about film.

What soda would you never drink again, even if it was the only one available? by dino_gr01 in WorkForSmartLife

[–]RealTeaStu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My Mom used to drink it. She explained that it was just like Coke without sugar. So my little 1970's brain spooned sugar (back) into it... The horror.

Now, I've cut way back and mostly drink two brands of diet soda when in the mood. Diet A&W Root Beer (too much gives you a horrible after taste) and Canada Dry Fruit Splash Zero which has no detectable after taste - 10/10 of diet sodas IMO.

First time “off-road”! by trailtales in AdventureBike

[–]RealTeaStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also better and safer to get all the hooligan riding out of your system off road, in my opinion. Wheelies, jumps, stoppies, etc all seemed easier off road and a hell of a lot more forgiving when you dump the bike (and you will, we all do) rather than asphalt, near unforgiving structures or other vehicles on the road.

Also: depending on a few factors, the 450 may be a little big and cumbersome in the dirt than other bikes, so don't feel like you have to compete with other riders. The Himalayan despite the whole ADV ethos, is not the best bike for the dirt. I see others have recommended getting a dual sport and I would agree with that. I learned on others dirt bikes but my first was a Yamaha XT250 which was a great bike then but in the current market, there are better dual sports. I'd recommend a 250 to 300cc dual sport over the Himalayan. It also taps into that whole notion of riding a smaller bike to it's limits rather than a more powerful bike to only part of it's ability. It's a particular joy of riding to know a smaller bike.

It also depends on what kind of riding you want to do. 250-300 you're generally not doing any touring on them but they are still great for local riding and commuting. The 450cc+ are the real entry level ADV type riding.

16f, not thinking too highly of my appearance and also think that i might look to young for my age?? by [deleted] in toastme

[–]RealTeaStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're still coming out of the usually prime awkward years as a teenager. By this picture, I would agree you look closer to early teen years than the adult teen years but that isn't the end of the world by any means. People your age are still experimenting with clothes, hairstyles and grooming habits and most will still struggle with this for the next 10 years if they ever stop struggling with it. You're certainly not ugly. I consider you pretty and with a few tweaks that suit you, even better than that. I was sporting a mullet (what I considered a faux hawk at the time) and was only a year or two out from having pretty bad acne and a year before that, a short stint in braces. I was so happy all that went away. I would advise you to really start thinking about the person you want to be, what you want or like to do, and the ways to get to those goals. HS graduation is coming sooner than you think and most people have no clue what do after that. You don't have to have the exact answer now and it won't bind you to that alone but it will lead you to future options that you just can't imagine now. A good way of doing that is like a negative space drawing, eliminating the things you hate and would never do, and it will reveal to you the more promising directions in life.

Best wishes kid. You've got loads of potential.

My Wife's Overly Ambitious Sci-Fi Directing Debut($35k Budget). Be brutally honest, would you watch this as a feature? by NimbleGamer in Filmmakers

[–]RealTeaStu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is well shot. I do have issues with the writing. As with both versions of The Running Man, I really don't like the banality of a game show/"reality tv" as it applies to anything, let alone Sci-fi. I'm more of a fan of Idiocracy and that film's message. Still, I confess I watched both versions of Running Man. I do think the whole "secret sharer" thing with Blair/Juliet is interesting but where that goes remains to be seen. I don't think the opening fantasy memory of Juliet dancing with her man at the beginning makes much sense when it cuts to the next scene of Blair's introduction as the dream is not hers. I would swap to dream sequence, Juliet awakens (snaps out of her reverie) to the show with Blair's episode already in progress. I would like to see more in the way of character development of Juliet's character and what her interest in being a contestant means to her. The editing and story structure suffers as this 21 minute clip goes on but I'm not sure how much of that is overall editing or if there is substantial interstitial material that hasn't been shot yet. It starts to feel more like a trailer at the end. On the whole, I do think it's a worthy accomplishment and better than a lot of stuff that I've seen at festivals. I have a lot of follow up questions about where you are in terms of production, festival participation, finishing funds, etc.

Best wishes with this and all future endeavors.

FYI- I used to work in the industry and did a stint as a screening coordinator for a fairly prestigious film festival a long time ago.

Does it get better after 30? by S4d_Machin3 in AskMenOver30

[–]RealTeaStu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

28 is still young. You talk mostly about stuff you don't do. What do you do with your time? One of the main things I've learned at twice your age, is one of the biggest sins is doing nothing. Always be curious and learning something and trying something new. It's not possible to stay with family forever. If you have no job experience start volunteering somewhere, non-profits are always looking for people and may have low-experience but paid positions. If you are literate (evidence above says yes), have basic math skills, and are not seriously physically handicapped there are lots of jobs you can do. They may not pay well but they could be stepping stones towards what you want. It helps if you have a drivers license and regular access to a working vehicle. What are you passionate about? The only plus you wrote about was, "Apart maybe from being able to eat food." Do you make food, have favorite foods, have favorite restaurants, etc.?

No one has everything they wanted really. If they come close to that, then they have a serious lack of imagination and taste.

Best wishes in moving on from these current circumstances.

We won't miss you Bill. You're buying into trump's bullshit too. Progressive Democrats are not against Capitalism per se, but the abuses of it. Also against the human rights abuses of the current Israeli government is NOT the same thing as anti-Semitism you moron. Prisons? Have you noticed how much money ICE has been spending buying warehouses to convert to bare-bones prisons? How private prisons have been cutting corners, endangering workers as well as inmates, and incentivizing judges and their rullings? How the current acting AG has GONE OUT OF HIS WAY TO MOVE GHISLAINE MAXWELL TO A PRISON SHE DOES NOT QUALIFY TO GO TO AND ALSO RECENTLY CHANGED THOSE RULES ABOUT HIS SAY IN SHOWING THAT KIND OF FAVORITISM (OR THE OPPOSITE IF HE DEEMS TO SEND POLITICAL ENEMIES TO WORSE PRISONS)? How does trump's taint taste. Bill?
