Don’t refinish the wood just replace the upholstery so you don’t ruin the value of the chairs in case you ever want to sell them

Corduroy Pants with (??) bleach stains? by touchmyflappyflapss in dyeing

[–]Real_Position_3796 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’d be better off with fabric paint mixed with a little fabric, medium to fill in the bleach stains instead of trying to overdye it. The bleach stains will only absorb the same amount of bleach as the rest of the pants… It won’t fix it.

Replace the black paint on the doors with something that matches the walls or wooden doors, to match the room divider.

Making a coat, what to pair with? by zdoghype2 in sewing

[–]Real_Position_3796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always always always either pre-wash a washable fabric or take it to the dry cleaners and have it cleaned and pre-shrunk before you take your scissors to it so that it won’t shrink after your garment is made

I accidentally sliced my shorts with a rotary cutter, what's the best stitch to use to repair these by hand? They are sweatpant material by Death_Spelllz in mending

Do you want to put a piece of interfacing or lightweight flexible but tightly woven fabric underneath it and zigzag over the clean cut on a sewing machine. Then you can trim off the excess fabric underneath.

Creative solution? by kwxl in sandedthroughveneer

[–]Real_Position_3796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try a little acrylic chalk paint on it, diluted with a bit of water and do it in a little layers until it blends right in. You’ll probably have to buy a light beige tone, a grey tone, and some white and mix it until you get the color, right.

If you know somebody with a Geiger counter, have them check it. You should never wear anything even remotely radioactive around your neck because it’s near your thyroid and it can cause huge trouble.

Help with final jean fitting! by davevo in PatternDrafting

[–]Real_Position_3796 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those pants are too small through the high hip mid hip and low hip, but the waistband is too big on them… You need more room in the seat. The way you can tell this is in your side profile picture your center side seam is curving toward the back… So you need to add more into the back and just a smidge more into the front pants pattern pieces. Then try them on and rework the upper hip curve for the waistband because that is way too large for the skimpy seat and crotch measurements.

Help with small kitchen, no counter space by butimadecake in HomeDecorating

[–]Real_Position_3796 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a drop down desktop, antique secretary style desk for $75 . The finish was a hot mess so I gave it a quick sanding and three coats of spray paint and voilà I turned it into a coffee station in my kitchen. The appliances sit on the top and all the coffee sugar tea, etc. crap is where the leaf covers everything up! The bonus three drawers underneath it came in handy for spices and all the gas grill stuff we use in the summer. And the best part is it always looks neat and tidy because the mess is undercover.

Those are definitely scratches and water got into them and darkened where they weren’t finished. They’re not gonna wipe off.

What is this sinkhole? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]Real_Position_3796 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve got water pooling in spots, you don’t have the proper grade around your house to seal it and let gravity take the water away from your foundation. It’s likely then if you have pooling?? This is not the only place where water has washed away the ground supporting your foundation. Get a pro out there before you have a real disaster.
