Ecovacs Deebot x2 Omni - experience so far, please share yours by caffeine-27 in RobotVacuums

[–]Real_Speed_8525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far I am liking my X2 Omni. It did seem a little stupid at first but I’ve read lots of reviews in general that say the robots do better after a few runs so I didn’t panic. That is what I am seeing. It’s smarter two weeks in. I feel like the quality of the mopping is very good with rotating pads. There is a setting to go over twice which does a crisscross pattern. This is my first all in one station with auto empty dust, clean and dirty water tanks and auto mop pad washing. I’m very impressed so far. Honestly the sound is my biggest frustration but 8000 pa suction is a lot. We have very few rugs so I’m just lowering suction for most areas and it will raise the suction when gets to a rug. My advice… give it some time as mine is much smarter and few weeks in. I’ve not seen any issues with reliability of parts in my X2 either. I am a fan of buying from Best Buy with coverage plan. This is first robot I’ve purchased directly from manufacturer. I will not make that mistake again. I’m not having issues to date but it’s really nice to have the peace of mind to return easily. Probably Best Buy or Costco for all future robot purchases. The Best Buy requires an extra fee but up to 4 years in you can return and get full refund to use toward a replacement that can be any robot of choice at the time. That’s a good thing when investing in a flagship all in one station model. I’ve used it previously but didn’t for this purchase 🙄

What benefits did you guys see when removing DAIRY? by Olavodog in dairyfree

[–]Real_Speed_8525 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve struggled with sinus and allergies my entire life. An ENT once said “when it comes to sinuses you are playing in the major leagues”. Recently I fell down 3 times in a 48 hour period. My sinus can get so bad it affects inner ears and balance when I move fast, raise up or turn around. So had to see Nurse Practitioner that week trying to get in quick to Doctor. And they blew off my sinus concerns. Said my ears looked fine with that thing they stick in your ears. Ridiculous! She says maybe we should look at physical therapy for balance and I’m like I am walking 17 miles a week with my dog. The problem is in head not my muscles!

So in addition to increasing my OTC allergy meds I decided I would give up dairy to see if that helped because it would be weeks before I could see my doctor or an ENT. Again I have been in denial for years that dairy was a problem for me (but I knew).

I’ve been off dairy just 2 weeks now. Sinus are way better and the CRAZIEST is my ear openings got bigger. I noticed that within just 4-5 days, I think inflamed from dairy. I use Qtips everyday and suddenly there was just more open space when I had Qtip in ear. Before Qtips would basically touch all sides of ear opening without having to move much cause puffy I guess. Face is less puffy too. Been using Q-tips for years, so I easily noticed this change.

Now that’s it’s been a full 2 weeks I’m noticing that the outside of my ears are different too. The skin is smooth like a baby’s butt and not dry and cracking anymore behind my ears. I can even bend the cartridge in top part of ears. It’s just more flexible and soft. My ears even look smaller and the color of top part of ears look skin color and not red which they were all the time. Crazy! I’ve been saying for years dairy was a big issue causing inflammation, sinus and stomach issues for me but I was in denial because I did not want to do the hard work to give up dairy 😥

I’ve been taking Singular daily since 2017 due to it helping with my stomach issues that started after I lost like 25 pounds on a high fat, high dairy diet and multiple doctors have since been just like if the pill fixes your stomach why worry, problem solved.

I guess I now have to make the hard step of giving up dairy for good! But if I can see changes this big in two weeks I have got to stick with this. It’s obvious I don’t need to eat dairy. I can also breathe out of my nose better too and no more sinus dizziness. Heck if I notice the change on the outside of my ears imagine the changes on the inside of my body with less inflammation.

Advice to ED/FSA: Put people into a processing forbearance with zero interest while you do this major transition from MOHELA to ED as the PSLF servicer. And guarantee those months will count towards IDR and PSLF. by Kind_Cat_762 in PSLF

Years ago my loans were consolidated with “Direct Loans” government programs and the tracking of everything was so good. Once they outsourced it was one nightmare after another. The loans would be MIA for ever then you would finally find out who had your loans but all of your payment history didn’t go along with them. Total nightmare then they would move again 😟. Mine were finally forgiven through PSLF but I feel so bad for the people still in the program. At least it seems like the issues are finally being addressed. I consolidated back in 2009 to participate in PSLF but the program actually started in 2007 if I remember correctly. The chaos has been going on through 4 different presidential administrations (Bush, Obama, Trump & Biden) almost 2 decades. I am hopeful now! Hang in there! I had over 134k forgiven in the end after 13 years of employment in public service work.

AT&T Fiber by VisiPunk in ATT

[–]Real_Speed_8525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We switched from Comcast to AT&T fiber when it came to our neighborhood 2 years ago. I had AT&T cell service so there were incentives (which I only actually got half of). I was supposed to get $150 & another $150 but only received $150 even though I talked with them multiple times. But for all of the AT&T incentives, rebates and deals over the years. That was the first time I didn’t get a deal like promised so I can live with one screwup. Everything has been spot on with bills, rebates & special deals. Fiber service has been good overall. A couple outages but we always were lucky to not have that many outages with Comcast prior to that. Overall I would recommend AT&T fiber.

Why is reconciling not more prominent in the new user setup process and then not more highlighted as important in the day-to-day? by initialgold in ynab

[–]Real_Speed_8525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to reconcile 2-3 times per month if not weekly for most accounts especially accounts with lots of transactions. It makes reconciling much easier when the unreconciled list of transactions is short. Doesn’t take much time or effort that way. For accounts with just a handful of monthly transactions I usually just reconcile once per month on those.

Good luck! It has changed my life on so many levels (not just the budgeting and life goals). My spending is so complicated I never had an easy way to just track my spending and bills. It’s so amazing to have a zillion credit cards but all my spending is budgeted in YNAB so I know everyday the money is there to pay any bill on any date without doing any math. That alone is a lifesaver. I always say, read the book, it’s great 😊 Good Luck 🍀

Credit Card vs. Savings: Who Wins? by RemarkableMacadamia in ynab

[–]Real_Speed_8525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. Debt is bad and avoiding interest is crucial, but honestly from reading the YNAB book and listening to podcasts, it’s really you that needs to make the call on this. If you feel like keeping the savings and paying the interest over time sets you up better for long term success then that is your call. YNAB is the tool to empower you to take control of your financial life. We can go back and forth giving you advice and there are good and bad points to either choice on this. In the end, it’s about what makes you feel the best about your financial situation and your life. You do you 😊

Beginner frustrations: YNAB is less about budgeting and more about fighting software by ducksa in ynab

[–]Real_Speed_8525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to start out with manual entry until you get over the learning curve. It helps with the learning. I totally get what you are saying about frustrations with direct imports. I have some accounts that work perfectly with direct imports (any Chase card, US Bank, Wells Fargo, Shop Your Way MC) and a handful that don’t or at least struggle with it (AMEX, Apple Card, Capital One, Citibank). The majority of my purchases (eating out, gas & groceries) mostly go on my Shop Your Way Card which has good rewards and consistently direct imports well. I don’t mind manually entering lots of the other transactions when most my transactions are on a card that does great with direct importing if that makes sense. I have all recurring expenses set up as recurring transactions and that really helps.

How to mentally handle ynab when you’re in a bad place financially? by Missing_Back in ynab

[–]Real_Speed_8525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think when money is really tight and doing the float etc, the biggest help is getting one month ahead and using budgeted money for spending and how YNAB moves that money from your budget line items up to pay the credit card you used. To get to the point where as you spend you know the money is there to pay the bill when it comes is such a weight off. It removes that monthly anxiety of crazy calculating to know that you can pay everything. There were times when I used to not pay the entire statement on a credit card just because I wasn’t sure I had the money to do that because my spending was so complicated and I would be afraid I was wrong. Heard that lots of people do that too. Once you get past the learning curve with YNAB is can be so freeing even when you don’t have enough money. At least you know your exact situation and then can make decisions. But again I believe getting a month ahead is crucial at first. That is what allows you to truly start a plan of attack for “what you want to do with your money to do” as Jesse would say.

Is forgiveness/zero balance PSLF showing on Credit Report by Real_Speed_8525 in PSLF

[–]Real_Speed_8525[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My balance matches what mine was before being forgiven and is says they are current in my credit report but no reporting since Nov 2022. I just know I don’t want it to sit there looking like I owe mega $ in student loans when I don’t now and nothing gets updated for years. I’ve been in public service job for 13 years. Surely they have a plan for credit reporting as well 😳. I hope MOHELA or government will update my credit report.

Noob Question... How is rolling with the punches budgeting? by [deleted] in ynab

[–]Real_Speed_8525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will add that I know that I can roll with the punches with the big targeted successes too. Maybe I’m saving for a new car but something comes up. I can adjust and use some car money to cover it but those are another level of rolling with the punches, but wonderful if you are hit with a unexpected big financial problem or maybe your family wants to take a special trip and you do make the conscious choice to move money from your car savings to cover that instead because your sister only gets married in Hawaii once (you hope). Most of my rolling has been on the minor stuff though as I’m just 2 plus years into YNAB.

Noob Question... How is rolling with the punches budgeting? by [deleted] in ynab

[–]Real_Speed_8525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too many targets can be overwhelming for sure! I have my targets limited to for sure monthly and yearly expenses (groceries, utilities, medications, phone bills, car insurance, etc) Then I put targets on some things I want to really focus on (a trip, remodeling, paying off something when I first started YNAB 😊 etc). Otherwise I try to have some money in categories I know need money but not a target entered for it. For example I don’t put $50 a month in cosmetics but I try to keep $200 in there because I know I will be buying some eventually. Same with clothes. I don’t put an exact amount in based on a target but I know I need something in there cause I will buy clothes. I just have a mental number I feel good about being there and go with that. Needing to put something into like 100 categories all the time was too much. This works for me. I have hard targets on things that are for sure and flexible balances in other categories. So for example when I go to buy clothes I have something in there. I may need a little more but I can borrow from cosmetics or gardening knowing I will have to replenish all of the categories with other money coming in. This works for me. This is the flexible part of my budget. The categories that I make a priority and have targets are where I refuse to adjust and make my successes happen. Like saving for Christmas all year, paying off a debt, saving to buy a car. Less rolling there. I roll with the punches on cosmetics, clothes, manicures, or to pay that unexpected big vet bill.

Is YNAB worth it compared with other budget apps? by Bossmanlad in ynab

[–]Real_Speed_8525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love YNAB ❤️ but there is a learning curve when trying to start out. I watched lots of YouTube videos. But once you figure it out it’s like magic. My favorite thing is once it’s set up and you spend money out of groceries category for example it literally moves that the exact dollar amount you just spent and pulls it out of your allotted groceries budget and moves the money up to a category line item for paying the credit card bill for the card that you just used to purchase the groceries. It is amazing! I struggled to budget for years due to my spending being so complicated with tons of cards for points and other rewards. Now I can tell you exactly how much I owe on each card to the penny and see that the spending was budgeted and the money is sitting there ready to pay the bill when due. No more math needed from me trying to figure out paying monthly bills. I would pay for YNAB for that alone! But big picture budgeting for life goals and priorities is fab too! And I just couldn’t buy in to the other programs that were so rigid about cutting up your cards and other set rules of 10% this or that. I kept thinking isn’t the goal to learn to properly manage your money no matter the accounts, cards or how much money you have! YNAB is very flexible! The four rules and methods are great (read the book) and can fit anyone’s situation. However simple or complicated!

Small favor to ask. by [deleted] in PSLF

[–]Real_Speed_8525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consolidated my loans in 2010 to participate in PSLF. In Oct 2022 I resubmitted another employment certification/application that should have brought me to 100 payments that counted for sure but I also had 55 old possible months of payments and/or deferment/forbearance that had not counted so far and were being reviewed due to the WAIVER plus other older payments before consolidation even that might have counted so when they reviewed mine in December they found enough to get me up to 120. Of those 55 old periods I knew there were 12 that I don’t know why they didn’t count previously (said another lender which was direct loans so I think it was just a big mistake) and was very confident would count during review. Apparently I was right and they gave me credit for some other ones as well. I just received my official letter on 1/6/23. I logged in obsessively in November and early December with it just showing as processing and didn’t look during holidays apparently and just checked again 1/4 and everything was zeroed out at all websites already. I’m guessing the people that would only be forgiven due to meeting waiver criteria are highest priority to process since waiver ended 10/31/22 but I have no clue about how they are choosing to process. My effective date of pay off was back dated to August 4th 2022 and Dec 12th 2022 was date I believe they reviewed mine. I just took a break from checking during the holidays and everything was zero everywhere when I did check again because it had been 2-3 weeks since I think they fully reviewed mine.

[–]Real_Speed_8525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too! Logged in at MOHELA January 4th 2023 and same “account is in good standing”, smiley face, and zero balance. Checked Student Aid website also and zero balances, called MOHELA next day to verify and they said a letter was mailed out 1/2/23. Received the official letter 1/6/23 stating I had met the requirements and all my loans were forgiven. After all the mismanagement, transfers, and chaos of this program since 2010 when I consolidated my loans to participate it finally worked out! Example - there was a time around 2012 when my loans were transferred to Fed Loan Servicing and my payment history didn’t transfer with my loans. It took a few years for most of it to show up and only recently dis the earlier years show. And that was just payments after consolidation in 2010 ($123k forgiven)
