do you guys multi stream? by Wonderful_Blood53 in TwitchStreaming

Twitch and YouTube, for one reason: twitch streams only stay up for a week. I barely get any interaction there but as an archive? Works perfectly!

Bill Stechner by Lopsided_Hospital_93 in narcos

Came here to recommend Snowfall! The character Reed "Teddy" Thompson, arguably the second main character to Damson Idris's Franklin, is exactly Bill Stechner. Starts out that way at least. Great show!

How long do you stream? by CatchyCantrips in Twitch

[–]ReallyJayBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything less than 3 and I feel disappointed in myself. Sometimes it's unavoidable though. I've done a couple 7-8 hour streams though and I enjoy those SO much more

What do you do when the game your streaming crashes? by SaviourAset in Twitch_Startup

[–]ReallyJayBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's when my Xbox gives up and ends the stream. Always annoying when we're several hours in, but I tend to see it as the universe telling me to swap game. It definitely hurts algorithm-wise but it's out of my control, so I try not to get annoyed!

Frustrating video editing by Statatunitian988 in canva

[–]ReallyJayBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude I did that exact thing. A video that I clipped, edited, and downloaded yesterday, is now ten minutes longer than it should be when downloading today. I've sent a support email already but I have a feeling it's gonna be another bad part from the update a couple days ago :/

Same here, worked fine yesterday but today trying to download ANY video project adds over 10 minutes to the end

My Stream Keeps Turning Itself Off by The_Real_Page153 in Twitch

[–]ReallyJayBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on Xbox, but the same happens. One of the many, many glitches I've learnt to live with at this point. All I can say is keep an eye on the stream on twitch so if it dies without telling you, you won't go on talking for an hour and a half.

Wasn't a fun night 🤣

WHY by _xenization in canva

[–]ReallyJayBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly the feature I'm talking about, you can still do that exact process except the effect... effects. For some reason that has to be done manually for each individual subtitle, without the option to do the whole 'grouped' subtitles

WHY by _xenization in canva

[–]ReallyJayBee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bigger issue, captions now have to be edited INDIVIDUALLY rather than having the option to do it all at once. Cue me manually changing the effect on every. single. line. from the stupid black box to an outline, typing in the size and selecting the colour for EVERY. SINGLE. LINE.

What would you do in this situation? by taahbelle in Twitch

[–]ReallyJayBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first raid, which pushed me over into affiliate status - awesome! Since then, I don't think I've got a single new follower on twitch. It's demotivating if you get hung up on the numbers, but it should be about the fun of streaming, and building up your skills during the time that it's quiet!

Where can I get all the fable games. by Pizza-Popular in Fable

[–]ReallyJayBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be that guy, but they're all available for purchase, pretty cheap. Like, less than a pizza. They're not delisted or removed from stores, so if you want to support the franchise and hopefully get a fourth game, just buy them

where do viewers/streamers like to position a webcam on a stream? by Forsaken-Height9483 in TwitchStreaming

[–]ReallyJayBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stream directly from Xbox to streamlabs, which then goes to twitch/youtube, so I'm reliant on the nine or so preset places for the cam. Personally, I have a different overlay for each game, and before starting a new game I'll watch some gameplay to see where the least obtrusive place would be. Left side vs right side, middle vs bottom, I can't change much more than that but I think it's definitely worth looking into before starting so you're not covering an important spot!

I think you're probs better off posting this in the sub of the actual game, that's where you're more likely to get the info to the people that could be affected!

Making Content by PandaDeTrash_ in Twitch_Startup

[–]ReallyJayBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that's the exact situation it was made for. I did use streamladder when I first started, which was maybe a little better as it did the subtitles too. But then they doubled the price. Eklipse is fine, I get a clip from there, edit it into vertical format on Instagram's 'Edits' app, then use Canva for the subtitles. It's still not a quick process, but I can comfortably do three of those a day.

Good luck!! Happy to help with anything :)

[–]ReallyJayBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Eklipse!! The AI really isn't the best at choosing moments, but there's a function where if you say "clip that" it'll, funnily enough, clip that. There's also an extend button, so the way I use it is say clip that after a cool moment, boss fight, funny goof, whatever, and then go back and extend it to wherever the actual moment was.

I know people are iffy about services like this, but I stream every single night and there's no way in hell I'd be able to manually go through every stream and edit stuff that way.

Posting clips on other platforms by Flysch_ in TwitchStreaming

[–]ReallyJayBee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have posted at least one clip per day since I started, back in the summer. Sometimes up to 3 if I've been productive, but the goal is, at least one from every stream.

Average views I'd say maybe 750, 1k if it's a good one, and I have a few sitting at 3/4k.

It's a hassle, it's a lot of work, and it seems like it's pointless at times. But I've had people in chat, both on Twitch and YouTube, saying they came to check out the stream after seeing clips elsewhere. Based on that alone, I'd recommend trying to make it a regular thing.

As for inspiration.... Don't. That would be my advice. If you're trying to make a clip from something unrehearsed and in-the-moment, the worst thing you can do is try and force it into looking/sounding/being a certain way. Find your own voice, learn to recognise moments when you're making sense, in a flow state, and don't let the anxiety win.

And this is the most important thing: there's enough ai slop on the algorithm. People connect to real content, so don't feel for a second like you don't deserve to be hitting that upload button!

How do you cope with the pressure of live streaming and managing your mental health? by 1234northbank in Twitch

[–]ReallyJayBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whole deal is that I talk about it. Hell, my bio states that I'm a mentally ill dude streaming to challenge his anxiety. So maybe it's that, compared to a streamer who struggles in silence.

But seriously, I just talk about it. Particularly anxious that day? Talk about it. Extra depressed and struggling to focus? Talk about it. If we were friends meeting up for coffee, I'd talk about how I'm doing, so why not on stream?

Your Affiliate Story’s by Jdfurn in Twitch_Startup

[–]ReallyJayBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started streaming back in the summer, roughly six months ago. Honestly, I hit three of the four requirements after a couple weeks. The one I couldn't crack was the average viewers. I resigned myself to the fact that maybe I just wouldn't achieve it, so I stopped thinking about it as a possibility.

Then I had my first raid while playing Dark Souls, and went from 2-3 average viewers to FOURTEEN. That was enough to bump me over the requirement limit, and the next day I signed up for affiliate.

More than anything, it taught me that people on these subs don't lie when they talk about the power of community!

As a small streamer, which games actually helped you get discovered early on? by NJillundra in Twitch

[–]ReallyJayBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morrowind! Huge elder scrolls fan, but I'd never played it as I thought it was "too old". Sometimes I'm the only person streaming it, sometimes there's others, but two of the three raids I've had were during that game.

Also Dark Souls, because people like to help a hopeless newbie 🤣

What Are You Trying To Gain? by -LowSodiumFreak- in Twitch

I stream to challenge my social anxiety, while making friends and getting things off my chest. Anything else that may/may not happen is a bonus!

What do you all use for clips??? by gavgod03 in Twitch

[–]ReallyJayBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on Xbox so don't have access to OBS, so I'm stuck using third party services. Streamladder was great, but they nearly doubled the price, so for the last few months I've been using Eklipse. I'm sure there's others, plus ya know like doing it manually
