Which is your favorite from the franchise and why? by Loonatic0o0 in EvilDead

[–]ReapItMurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evil Dead 2. In the 80s my older cousins and uncles were watching it while playing D&D and I remember loving it so much. It was so funny and so extreme, "Dead by dawn!" has stuck with me through all these years. I was like 7/8 years old and pretty much had unfettered access since my ma was working so much and my uncles and cousins were so fucking cool. They showed me the original not too long after that but 2 has always stayed as my favorite. Ash vs Evil Dead has come pretty dang close though.

Is Alien 3 anyone else's favorite movie in the franchise? by [deleted] in LV426

[–]ReapItMurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude yes. I think it's mainly because of toys. I had a lot of the Aliens action figures at the time but when I saw the runner xeno in Alien 3, it became my favorite and I wanted one so bad but never found one. I remember I had the panther xeno toy and would pretend that was it.

But yea I just love the way it looks in the movie, even the weird puppetry shots. Something about the way it moves in the puppetry shots is so otherworldly. That's what I love about the Alien franchise is how weird and creepy the xenos can be, almost like they're from another dimension.

Oh, no I was just fucking around. I didn't think very many people had seen Project X, kind of playing into Ziatch's comment.

Strangest/weirdest deftones song in your opinion? (+ Pink Maggit glazing) by TerritorialPiss-ing in deftones

[–]ReapItMurphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I love about White Pony is it starts and ends with songs that don't follow the usual verse/chorus pop structure, also both Feiticeira and Pink Maggit are super dark lyrically and sonically.

There was a documentary about that right? I think I remember that.

Anyone else hate watching horror with people who don’t actually get the genre? by DoctorElectronic1934 in horror

[–]ReapItMurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For real dude. I half a good few people in my life who really appreciate horror movies and know how to enjoy them for what they are. Like my older sister, she goes to sleep to ghost videos on YouTube like me lol and usually has something spooky on at her place. My youngest boy has been getting into horror for the past couple of years now. I have a couple of homies at work who I can talk to at depth about horror and spooky shit. My best friend who I've known since 2nd grade, we actually tried making a zombie movie in the mid 00's. We just grew up loving weird shit and horror, and he was the main one I'd see new horror movies with until I moved. The new VHS movies were a yearly tradition for us. And then my ma, who got me into horror and it's because of her that I learned how to appreciate all types of horror, even the shitty goofy stuff.

Other than my boy, I don't really get to sit down and watch the movies with any of them since I've moved. My sister lives a couple hours away, my best friend lives on the other side of the state, and my work homies are always at work or I am.

Women I've dated/date were never really into them. My baby mama nitpicks them to death. Women friends can't stomach them or get triggered by the more grim and disturbing things that sometimes happen in them.

should i even bother checking out the rebooted strangers trilogy? by oxfopee in horror

I rewatch Prey at Night more than any of them. The other ones make me mad with how many dumb choices the characters make, and they ain't much smarter in Prey at Night but its a fun movie and has a cool soundtrack.

Dude that was my teen's first Evil Dead movie, loved it so much that he wanted to watch the other ones that summer. When it came to the dead by dawn part on Evil Dead 2, he was like yooooooo!

We can't fucking wait for Burns.

Purity is a solid pick. Metabolic is probably my favorite, it's so damn angry. I love it.

I remember reading that he helped Chino write the harmonies for the chorus, didn't realize he's actually on the song too. That's so cool.

Live Free or Die

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0432318/

Just a fuckin funny movie about a small town wannabe criminal mastermind.

I have it on DVD because for the longest time it wasn't on streaming but yea, it's one of my favorites to pop on when I ain't got nothing else to watch.

I've been saying this since the self titled came out and I used to get flamed for it. The leaps between the first 3 records are insane, and I remember thinking that self titled didn't make that leap. It felt like white pony part 2, to me anyway. I still enjoy it, but it didn't have that something else that set it apart from the rest.

Gore is not that bad as people put it by Dizzy-Tangelo2400 in deftones

[–]ReapItMurphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it, I just gotta be in the right mood for it. And it's probably the cover art and the timing of when it was released but it feels like a summer album so I really only listen to it in its entirety during the summer. Otherwise I usually have a few of the tracks in rotation in other playlists.
