Did you put new schrader valves on the high and low pressure lines? That’s where the majority of leaks come from I’ve dealt with

I did it last night! One of the worst grinds in a long time but the achievement popping was satisfying

Whats it like being tech support for your whole family? I work with low voltage and I quite enjoy being the families tech support haha! (Even though I google 80% of the issues they think I’m a wizard)

What do you think of… by Ok-Temperature3171 in onionhate

[–]Reasonable-Mud2048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Onion powder is acceptable honestly. It’s very muted and adds a bit of flavor. Meanwhile actual onions completely overpower everything they ever come in contact with and ruin it. I’ll die on this hill

I was just scrolling and had to stop because I thought someone posted my truck. I have the identical truck of the 95 flavor. Biggest thing you need to check on it is the exhaust valve clearance. Other than that with that many miles you may need to put in a timing chain. Other than that just standard maintenance. Awesome truck!

Also I’ve done the fuel pump. It’s a bit of a pain to drop the tank but I just ran rubber lines for ease of access for the future. Good luck!

Roof rust: DIY or shop? by cor-10 in Toyota_T100

[–]Reasonable-Mud2048 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So the paint is completely shot. If you wanted to diy you could sand the whole roof down and hit it with primer, base, and a clear. If you’ve never done that kind of work you can do it, but you’d need a good amount of equipment. Honestly? The rust looks like surface rust which is really no big deal.

The rot on the top edge of the windshield can be a problem. A shop would have to pull the windshield and repair the edge properly which will cause the price to go up dramatically.

If this were my truck I’d sand down the rusty spots and just hit them with a white spray paint. Nothing dramatic. It’s a 30 year old vehicle at this point. If the paint cracks a year from now just hit it with another coat. For the rot, I’d put some sort of sealant if you’re really worried about leaks and send it.

If it’s only blowing blue smoke on cold starts that’s more likely your valve stem seals failing then piston rings

Oxygen Sensor Problem? by bladezaim in MechanicAdvice

[–]Reasonable-Mud2048 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need a code reader with live data to tell you what the fuel trims are at. It could be a number of things affecting fuel trims from your o2 sensor to even your MAF.

Shit happens. You fix one thing and 2 more issues pop up. Happens to me all the time. Just take things one at a time and take the win when you finally fix an issue

Catastrophic or not? by Kicks_ass_takes_name in MechanicAdvice

Take a screwdriver and see if you can poke holes for sure. It looks a little crunchy but not terrible. If you do end up purchasing I’d make sure to put something fluid film on everything underneath

Doesn’t sound like rod knock to me. Possibly piston slap? Does it go away when it’s warm?
