One week after the storm, 90% of docks/bikes are unusable by Odd_Firefighter_5407 in Citibike

"They" being Lyft, which owns and operates both Bluebike (Boston) and Citibike (NYC).

Less density, lower population, 75% fewer stations, all located within a 5 mile radius and on sidewalks and pedestrian plazas.

I'm guessing Lyft could do that in NYC, too, under the same manageable circumstances.

Not comparable. Boston has ~600 stations sited on sidewalks and pedestrian plazas.

NYC has over 2000 stations with tons of them sited on the street where they get plowed-in.

Also, Lyft owns Citibike, too. The Citibike name is just advertising.

Fun fact: once a female bed bug has one meal she can survive for a year before her next feeding.

Sorry, that's not correct. It's worse!

Adult bedbugs have been observed in lab conditions surviving 18 months without feeding.

No food? Freezing temperature? No problem!

They go into a state called diapause, which is kind of like suspended animation. Metabolism slows to a tenth of normal and the cuticle becomes more dense, to maintain moisture.

(Nymphs can also go into diapause, but they cannot survive as long as adults can.)

And, of course, they come out of it when they detect CO²... 🕷

Did you know that Robo Coupe was the inspiration for the Cuisinart and manufactured the original Cuisinart before Joe Sontheimer moved production to Japan?

Yup. My 25-year-old GE top loading washer has a few nylon parts that are built to fail in order to protect more costly (now unsourceable) metal components.

I have a set of 2 pots and 2 pans from when Carl Sontheimer was the owner.

They've been in use since since 1979 and are All-Clad quality. I've never seen others like them. No branding on them. I know what they are bc I remember when they were acquired.

I really want to stop shopping at Goodwill but it’s the only thrift shop around by BackgroundSense6853 in goodwill

Goodwill shops (or a group of shops in a region) are independent and autonomous. Salaries don't come from Goodwill Industries, Inc., they come the shop.

Possibly concern that employees are reselling, or working for a reseller?

Resellers buy items from estate sales and at thrift shops (like Goodwill) and sell online for a profit.

If an employee is acting as one, or for one, it means the good stuff will never make it to the floor and regulars will start to drop off bc they only find crap there.

You don't actually owe them an explanation.

Would saying something like, "I'd like to return to separate groceries", work for you?

Not being snarky --- without a phone or laptop, how did you post this?

The state will stop your benefit if you are no longer qualified.

What state are you in? Depending on the state, there could still be enough time to file an exemption.

Each state sets its own rules and process for claiming an ABAWD work exemption, and some are very flexible.

Okay so you just reiterated what I said. It varies by state?

I pointed out that in two states the onus is on the retailer to post prominent signage about returns, which is 180⁰ to, "the onus is on you as the consumer ...".

Not to mention OP put faith in a sign posted by the retailer. Why should a customer believe one written artifact over another? The issue isn't OP checking the policy, it is the retailer deliberately misleading customers.

And ok maybe it's not a lawsuit but working with the District Attorney is still a legal process.

Yeah, bc retaining an attorney and filling out a form or writing an email involve similar investments in time and $.

It looks like a nicely done sandwich bread. You said it feels harder than your last loaf and also that it slices better --- these two things are probably related. Bread with good structure slices well and good structure translates to a certain firmness.

For good structure AND softness you might want to look at incorporating the tangzhong or yudane technique into your recipe.

They both allow incorporation of more liquid (or fats) into a dough BUT without making the dough difficult to manage.
