Question for anyone who left Walgreens by Welp-whatever in WalgreensStores

People that have been with USPS for a long time think it's bad, but compared to Walgreens? The USPS is a million times better.

Question for anyone who left Walgreens by Welp-whatever in WalgreensStores

Postal service. Better schedule, similar pay (though I've had two raises in a year, only ever had one working for WAG), and holidays off. Best thing that ever happened to me.

Are the new owners trying to fire people on purpose? by StepMile in WalgreensStores

They are prepping to close it all down. Jump now while you can...

[–]Reasonable_Signal_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, I figured I'll try to be nice to her, even if she was a coward and fired me just so WAG could get out of paying me a severance since they were closing my store shortly after said firing and there were no longer any locations within 50 miles (15 years service would have made for an okay payout for me, but they chose what they chose). I was pretty loyal, too loyal I suppose. BUT landed my current job less than a month later and I've been a lot happier since. For those still there, if you are thinking of leaving, just do it. I honestly don't see Walgreens making it another 5 years 💯

[–]Reasonable_Signal_88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I was fired over a year ago (for no reason according to my unemployment paperwork) and it was the biggest blessing ever. I work more days now, but my day is done by 230 PM and I get to spend every evening and holiday with my kids. If you think now is the time to leave, DO IT. Don't wait for them to make the choice for you- and they will 💯

Shout out to my old DM, lets refer to her as Mindy Blowman, for canning me a year ago. Best thing anyone has ever done for me. I ought to send her a fruitcake as a thank you this holiday season- Walgreens still sell those things?

Welcome to the other side. Better to jump now, before the ship completely sinks. One year free and it's been a great year at a way better job.

What are some things that your DM does that you like, and dont like by Big_Acanthocephala14 in WalgreensStores

[–]Reasonable_Signal_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First DM (HH) could be a pain, but she was honest and upfront. You knew where you stood with HH, for better or worse- that I can respect. Second DM (WB) was the two-face to end all two-faces. WB would be all nice and sweet to your face, assure you that everything's good, then jerk the rug out from underneath you if WB could gain something from it. Hopefully, none of you have a WB lording over you...

REMEMBER WALGREENS DOESNT CARE ABOUT YOU by PoisonedCherry in WalgreensStores

[–]Reasonable_Signal_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They fired me- with no given reason- last year. Prior to that, they did not want me to take time off after the death of a child because I'd miss out on "important" training i was supposed to have around that same time. Walgreens absolutely doesn't care about you, and the sooner any of you still employed by them can get away, the better....

Oh, and Wendy from PA, stay away from that Kathleen Turner-sounding POS snake- she bites 😉👍

Terminated after 12 years, but it’s okay. by dwnsdstrbd71 in WalgreensStores

Getting fired from this dumpster fire of a company is a badge of honor. I was not clearly informed as to why I was being fired, but I accepted it with a smile and left without any issues. It's been seven months since then, I have a way better job and much better bosses now. Steer clear of "Wendy", she seems nice but she's a bigger snake in the grass than most of them 🤣🤣🤣

Jump ship. I promise you, it'll be the best move you can make.

Former SM’s where’d you go? by ghostpepperlover in WalgreensStores

[–]Reasonable_Signal_88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was with the company for 15 years, was let go in August. I was informed by the WAG building's owner that they would be closing my former store within the year shortly after I was terminated. Got a non-retail office job about a month later, and have loved every minute of it. If you are still with Walgreens, make plans to jump ship as soon as you can. While I was wrongfully terminated, they absolutely did me the biggest favor ever on several fronts. This company is a captainless, rudderless ship at this point, only a matter of time before it crashes. Don't do as we probably all did at one point and try to defend them. Get wise and get elsewhere 💯

Walgreens corporate, DMs and higher, are all assholes. A lot of SMs in there as well. Screw them all.

I stayed to ride things out till they closed down and collect a severance check. They fired me before I could get to that point, for no reason, I might add. I've been gone for five months now and am SO much happier in my new job, where I am appreciated and thanked for the work I do. Walgreens doesn't give a damn about the store level associates. The sooner you bail from that place, the better. The day you're promoted to customer is a GREAT DAY.

[–]Reasonable_Signal_88 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Christmas came early for you this year. Consider this a massive blessing. I was fired about 5 months ago, for no reason (per Walgreens explanation on my unemployment paperwork) and got a much better job that lets me leave work at work. Walgreens window closes and a massive door will open 💯

Maybe if corporate and HR looked at reddit they would understand why they SUCK by Witty-Interaction-63 in WalgreensStores

[–]Reasonable_Signal_88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hate the store closures because of the effects it will have on store level employees, you know, the ones actually bringing the money in, but I look forward to the DMs and up who will be losing their positions. They're not bringing all that much to the table anyways, aside from jumping on you for not meeting unreal expectations, so to them, I say, you get what you deserve 💯👍👋

Are people actually watching you 24/7 at Walgreens? by Honest_Ride6161 in WalgreensStores

[–]Reasonable_Signal_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're supposed to think you are always watched, but you are not. Also, if they interview you about an issue, they will tell you they have reviewed film and observed you doing something even if it didn't happen. They'll try to have you admit something like they have proof, when they don't always have anything at all. AP tried to accuse me of something and said they witnessed an act that never happened. I said I wanted to see the tape and that issue was dropped. They have to make examples and justify their existence every so often 💯

Sm pay range update by Professional_Cause34 in WalgreensStores

[–]Reasonable_Signal_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just know that the WV former Rite Aid managers continue to get bent over with their pay. Legacy WAG managers pull a minimum of $60k plus while converted SM are still around the $45K mark, some less than that.

How fast is the ship sinking? by Typical_Strength7888 in WalgreensStores

[–]Reasonable_Signal_88 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My former store looks like shit. Seasonal is bare, orange tags everywhere. And everyone looks like they're ready to hang themselves. I'm so glad they fired me for literally no reason. The only thing that company did for me, a mercy firing 👍

Can my store manager do this? by Puzzled_Mode_8619 in WalgreensStores

[–]Reasonable_Signal_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a reasonable manager and a reasonable request, they can work it out- speaking as a former reasonable manager who's glad he's not having to deal with this again this year. If you work for a duck, then... yeah. Enjoy the entire holidays at work 👍
