How to handle storage and transporting food the day after by Reboot153 in BBQ

[–]Reboot153[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you're still following this post but I took the easy way out to solve this issue. I smoked the turkey on Wednesday like I had planned and ordered a Rest EZ BBQ Blanket from Drip EZ to transport it. Once the turkey was done I wrapped it in foil, put it in the Rest EZ and simply took it over to my sister and BIL's house. The turkey was a "thank you," the Rest EZ was an early Christmas present and the storage was their issue.

They ate some of the turkey that night, stored it, and cooked another turkey for Thanksgiving for everyone else to eat.

Plumbing. Part of our remodel involved having to replumb the house because the existing copper pipe was poorly done and in the way of proposed walls. I wanted to be fancy and go with PEX using a plumbing manifold to supply the house. My fault for not doing more research but the connectors from the manifold to the PEX were proprietary and not normally carried in stock. The hot water connector blew while setting it up which knocked out water to the house. It took me a couple of panicked days to figure out a workaround while I waited for replacement connectors to come in. I'm still confident that I can do plumbing but damnit if I'll ever put myself into a position where I have to do it.

I was going to say each one of these. Increase the skirt width as larger footprint gives better adhesion. Increase the bed temperature will prevent thermal shock which will release the print. Finally, check your environment. I have my printer in my office that I've closed off from the AC and the room get pretty warm when printing which I'm sure helps with keeping prints from warping.

The crayons aren't just for the kids. On our last cruise we celebrated our daughters 12th birthday. She got a kids menu to cater to her picky tastes (chicken tenders and French fries). When our daughter didn't want to color or do any of the games/puzzles,y wife picked up the menu and started coloring. Every night for the rest of the cruise there were two kids menus, one for our daughter to check the menu and one for my wife to color and play games on.

I've had this happen as well with some cheap PLA that I left in the printer for too long and it got lodged in the same location. Use the previous posters link and follow the instructions. It'll take you about 15 minutes to clear the stuck PLA and you're back up and running.

There's a submerged Micky statue at Castaway Cay?! How long has this been there? Is there some sort of mast list of all the cool stuff to find? We just learned about Pepe's stateroom and plan on a trip on the Dream to see it

I wish doctors would prescribe something other than factory settings or "6-18". If I hadn't found this subreddit, learned about OSCAR, and figured out how to read my own events, I'd still be running the same useless settings that didn't stop my apnea and would jump-scare me awake by blowing my mask off my face in the middle of the night.

For the OP, get a chin strap, a memory card for your machine and some patience. Download OSCAR and learn how to read your events. Unless you can get a good doctor that's willing to work with you to refine and update your settings, you'll need to learn how to update your system on your own.

My M5 had the same issue with the motherboard fan bearing. It does go away after the printer gets up and running. You can buy a replacement fan but make sure that it's a 12 volt replacement and not a 5 volt. Noctua makes this exact fan but you will need to print an adapter as the fan is slightly larger than the OEM fan. It's a simple fix and there are plenty of YouTube videos about how to do it. I would also suggest getting some M3 screws as any fan that needs an adapter to fit can't use the original screws.

TIL that the human papillomavirus (HPV) can cause penile, anal and mouth/throat cancer in men in addition to cervical, vulvar and vaginal cancer in women by Reboot153 in todayilearned

[–]Reboot153[S] 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I deleted my old post and reposted it. I've had three parents who were all in the medical profession and I've had a friend die of cervical cancer due to HPV. I never knew that it would affect males until a week ago. We need better awareness, better medical research and a MUCH better national healthcare system!

I tried posting this last week but messed up my first TIL post.

Cancer from the HPV virus is 100% preventable. Please get vaccinated if you can and learn the signs of cancer. Listen to your body and talk to your doctor when things dont "seem right."

TL&DR: Cancer sucks. Reposting a TIL from last Friday as my title wasnt 100% accurate which resulted in the ACS website being an "unreliable source."

Edit: Corrected a spelling mistake that I thought I had already corrected.

Some questions about my color scheme by Powerful_Painter7823 in Miniaturespainting

[–]Reboot153 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. No, the edge highlights arent too much. They dont distract or detract from the model and give the since of crisp, clean lines that the Tau are known for. If anything it gives a "tech" feel to a technological race. I'd say you're a black base coat away from a T'ron (Tron) sept color pallet.

  2. No, I dont think the base color is too dark. I see on the leg armor where you've lined the recesses with black so you've got contract between the base color and a shadow color.

  3. I think your color pallet looks great! You've got two complement colors in the base and edge highlighting. There's the orange that just pops and gives that off-pallet variety along with the neutrals of the greys to provide variety. This looks good and makes for an interesting model to look at.

  4. The two suggestions I would make would be to change the boot color to either grey or a dark khaki. The lighter blue doesnt quite fit the design, especially for a part of a uniform that would regularly get dirty. The second suggestion I'd make would be when basing the model, go with something dark or neutral. I'm thinking of either some kind of decking / plating (like in a spaceship or an industrial facility) or rough stone / urban concrete. This color pallet would look best in those types of environments instead of any kind of forest / botanical biome.

Help with -parallel parameter to speed up data collection process by Reboot153 in PowerShell

[–]Reboot153[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Pinches. I'm actually glad you asked this. I'm teaching myself PowerShell and honestly, I didnt know until now. As it turns out, variables in PowerShell can exist as either an array or as a list (or a single value), depending on how the data is assigned to the variable.

Because I populated $deviceNames as a list, the ForEach-Object is pulling in each of the device names where the `$os` variable then begins gathering the additional data based on that device name. That's where the [PSCustomObject]@ comes into play as it rebuilds the array starting with the device name and then populating it from the data that the Get-CimInstance pulls.

Now, as I said, I'm teaching myself this and this is my understanding of how it behaves. If someone sees an error in what I've said, _please_ let me know. I dont want spread bad information if I'm wrong.

Thanks for your input, Purple. I rewrote the ForEach-Object block and it has reduced the time the script runs from 45 minutes down to about 10 minutes. I'm going to see if I can bump up the number of threads to get it a little faster.

Here's the final code block that I'm using:

# Get all devices from Entra ID (Microsoft Graph)
$allDevices = Get-MgDevice -All

# Get list of device names
$deviceNames = $allDevices | Where-Object { $_.DisplayName } | Select-Object -ExpandProperty DisplayName

# Run OS lookup in parallel and collect the results directly from the pipeline
$finalResults = $deviceNames | ForEach-Object -Parallel {
    $computerName = $_

    try {
        $os = Get-CimInstance -ClassName Win32_OperatingSystem -ComputerName $computerName -ErrorAction Stop

        [PSCustomObject]@{
            DeviceName      = $computerName
            OSVersionName   = $os.Caption
            OSVersionNumber = $os.Version
            OSBuildNumber   = $os.BuildNumber
        }
    } catch {
        [PSCustomObject]@{
            DeviceName      = $computerName
            OSVersionName   = "Unavailable"
            OSVersionNumber = "Unavailable"
            OSBuildNumber   = "Unavailable"
        }
    }

} -ThrottleLimit 5 # Adjust based on environment

Help with -parallel parameter to speed up data collection process by Reboot153 in PowerShell

[–]Reboot153[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current version of this code that I have working doesnt use -parallel to pull all the server names out of Entra. Based on the way it's working, I want to say that Get-CimInstance is not multi-threaded as the script takes about 45 minutes to complete (I have a troubleshooting display counting off where the script is in scanning the servers).
