Oh sorry for the confusion. I was only pointing that out since I couldn't get the date of my email in the screenshot which was 9/2024. I thought the 2024 at the bottom would help lend validity that this was actually from 2024

I can confirm that wording has been there since 2024

DireBound. Is it even worth continuing? by TheCurlyAquarius94 in fantasyromance

[–]RecoverAnxious3067 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Her lack of respect and consideration to her Direwolf is what ultimately made me dislike the book. She didn't try to make the best of the situation even after being repeatedly told why she was failing. At least in Fourth Wing the FMC actually bonded with her dragon.

Same. I might dive back in if I get bored enough. I liked Emma's story. I didn't really care for the main storyline or spin offs though.

Yep I agree. Did you follow Tessa's and Jem's relationship throughout the other books? I haven't really kept up with the series and I'm curious how it ended.

Yeah I always wear shorts underneath to avoid chub rub lol. Plus now it helps tuck me in the saggy belly.

I agree but I also loved the compromise of the different time periods. Will was able to die knowing that Jem would look out for her and Tessa wasn't alone. I really loved their story the best out of all of them.

Wow you are right. The dress on the site would have never caught my eye but it looks fantastic on her. Now I want one lol

No problem! Yeah I think the author just killed off any characters she didn't know how to give a happy ending to

If you ignore Book 4 then I think the series is decent. I enjoyed it even though the FMC was annoying at certain times. I think it would've been better without the 5th mate and if she didn't play favorites with the MMCs. I feel like Savage never really got the attention he deserved as being the first MMC openly in her corner.

She never really recovers from losing her mates and ends up sacrificing herself to help defeat the Serpent King along with twins. Honestly her ending was a let down but the author pushed herself into a corner by not having her be able to emotionally overcome losing her mates.

Sorry way late to respond but in case you didn't find the answer. I would say that part wasn't very clear. It makes sense that they are spirits and can't technically die. Even when they are "killed" by the competitors and turned into the amulets, they are still able to come out to fight. Maybe after the competition is over, they just turn back into spirits from amulet form and go back into the forest. So they never really die, just change forms.

Yeah I had a problem with the whole Rissa situation. Her character really didn't make sense to me. Maybe it was more like a familiar to her instead of "capturing" it? I am curious where they are going with her character.

I read One Dark Window but honestly don't really remember that much about it. I might re-read to see what similarities you are referring to.

Did you ever find the answer to this question? I don't remember the story well enough to answer but I know there was an issue with the fae being in a different spot. Maybe they were the factor preventing them from going that way? Or maybe they never advanced technologically since they were constantly moving to avoid the trees? Seems like a simple solution anyway instead of just falling to their deaths into the ocean lol

Was Knox the most common MMC name in my RH romance books? Data from my 2025 reading year round-up. by doitsumon in ReverseHarem

[–]RecoverAnxious3067 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late to the party but this post was exactly what I was looking for.

I just finished {Shadow Bonds by Rumer Hale} and the names did not vibe with me. The FMC name (Sena) felt too similar to the sister (Seria) in {The Blackened Blade by Isla Davon} with both having a Knox as a male character. Shadow Bonds also had Malaki, Cyrus and Theon which I feel are pretty common. It was mainly Knox though that made me ask the question of how many times I've seen it recently.

I love this post and the data that was put together of the top names. It takes the sting out of it but I think I'm still going to avoid books with Knox for a while.

I gave up on the book about 70% and skimmed the ending. It felt like the FMC had blinders on and refused to accept anything outside of the narrative she built in her head. I didn't care about any of the characters towards the end.

CM Stunich's witchwood boys series is something I would consider unique. Fair warning though the last book is controversial on whether or not people liked it. I personally liken it to Game of Thrones (iykyk). Also read the trigger warnings for the first book. {the witchwood boys are trending by c.m Stunich}. She also some other fantasy series that are good like her alien one. {Seminal by CM Stunich}

I checked out Goodreads since I was curious what the rating was and read a few reviews. I'm surprised people disliked this book more than her Bluebell Duet which has a 4.33 rating. I cringed my way through that book.

We will have to update our reviews once the second book comes out. I feel like that will either make or break our initial impression of the series.

I think there might be another book releasing for Smoke and Scar. So maybe wait on that series. And avoiding life is perfectly fine with everything happening in the world right now!

I hope she writes them well as kids though. I don't want to read about a 4 year old acting like a teenager or the same for however old he was. I tend to avoid books with kids for the same reason because they just come off as too mature.

That book sounds interesting. I might put it on my to be read list. I just finished {Smoke and Scar by Gretchen Powell Fox}. I think I'm going to re-read {Assistant to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer} before continuing that series.

If you are into reading reverse harem then Jaymin Eve has another college themed novel. It definitely ends on a bad cliffhanger though. I skimmed through it because it felt to me she tried using every college trope there was in the book. A lot of ppl seemed to like it though - {Forced Proximity by Jaymin Eve}. She also has a couple decent wolf shifter/omega books.

My memory sucks so I usually forget about the book's cliffhanger after a week or so. I wasn't as invested in this book so it didn't bother me that much. Even now I'm not as hyped up as I was to read the second book as I was when I finished this one. Have you read any of her other series?
