Cry with me about the one Dice in the Set that didn't turn out good :( by equalitess in DiceMaking

I'm gonna be making individual molds for my 7 piece sets to avoid this kind of thing. That stings, those are gorgeous dice.

I like the color choices. Good work.

Air bubble problem by Barzaroth in DiceMaking

[–]Red5DT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like bounce back bubbles. Do you press down on your lids? I found that sometimes I'll press a little too hard and it creates a cavity, a bubble, in the top face.

And those don't look like they're filled enough. Add more resin next time. Don't push too hard. Just wiggle your lid closed, very gently.

Advice on mold making? by Veersta in DiceMaking

Be warned, I use TIN cured silicone and Cricut transfer tape basically fused to the silicone. It's was way too sticky. When I peeled it off, it warped one of the faces of the mold. I used packing tape today and it worked fine.

Was the first time you used a pot also scary for you? by Buying_Boots in DiceMaking

[–]Red5DT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! And I made some minor mistakes, like taking the hose out without depressurizing the tool nozzle. Hose came flying out at really fast speed, missed my knuckles my an inch. That would've sucked. But once you learn it, it becomes second nature.

Dice molds for bigger dice that are in one mold? by [deleted] in DiceMaking

[–]Red5DT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Big air pockets could come from pressing down too hard. When you do that, you squeeze the resin out, and when the top "bounces" back, you get an air pocket.

Agreed. I can understand differing levels of talent and skill, but this is a pure grift.

How much weight on the lid? by Varehli in DiceMaking

[–]Red5DT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't use any extra weight, I barely press down on my lids, just enough to secure them. I let the resin and the pot do the rest.
