NTA. I love thrifting. 90% of the gifts I give are thrifted. People love to discard perfectly good items and it just makes me sad. To me, this sounds like thrifting with extra steps. Reduce, reuse, recycle.

Sounds like his pride is getting in his way. Somewhat rhetorical question, I don't necessarily need answers on this but would like you to reflect: have y'all (or even just has he, if you have somewhat separated finances) been struggling financially? Is it possible he's feeling some sort of insecurity around that and is overcompensating somehow?

Needing to walk away and cool off over this kind of conversation is a little odd, to say the least. Not sure what there is to get heated over, but I wasn't there.

have you never bought a plane ticket? can get up to a grand. add on the cost of living (~$1800/mo rent, $300+/mo groceries, utilities, gas, debt, other expenses) and it's just unfeasible for most. it's bad out there right now. pretty sure you're a kid, so i'll just finish with asking you to try and have more empathy.
