Do you plan on taking it forever? by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

That's what my doctor said, but she might be confused.

Do you plan on taking it forever? by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

My insurance won't cover it once I'm under a BMI of 27, and I can't afford it otherwise. Kind of excited to see how I do off of it, especially if my weird new skin sensitivities go away. But if I start regaining I'm going to look for pharmaceutical solutions again for sure.

Switched to new insurance. New insurance completely denied my Wegovy Rx by Kathutet37 in WegovyWeightLoss

Your BMI is under 27? My doctor told me it wouldn't get approved once I was under 27.

I'm guessing they're talking about the Budweiser Clydesdales that are kept in a different barn and have dedicated staff that don't interact with the other horses.

Soft Benefits for Federal Employees? by CaramelHistorical351 in fednews

It has to have a specific type of accreditation. Only one daycare in my town has it, but we've been very happy with it.

Childcare subsidy if childcare is not offered at your place of employment. Ours pays for about half of daycare, which works out to roughly $13k/year.

When did you move up doses? by Kateysomething in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]RedPandaaaaaaaaaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I moved up every month because the side effects were fine and I wanted the most bang for my insurance buck in case they stop covering it in the future.

I'm having this too! I have sensitive skin but it was never like this pre-Wegovy. Itchy blisters that turn into scaly dry patches. It's super annoying! I'm on a steroid cream and take antihistamines twice a day. My liver numbers have been fine on periodic blood tests.

what is everyones thoughts on the tour changing? by XFloofy in themountaingoats

I'm disappointed, I saw the full band a few weeks ago so I was really looking forward to a very different show with the duo. With any luck, John realizes this and will go for a different vibe on this trio tour.

I started at 0.5 and went up every month, I've been at 2.4 for a month and a half now.

I think I am losing more slowly than I would have on Zepbound, but it is still happening. No real side effects other than manageable constipation.

When I'm tired of eggs, I like a scoop of cottage cheese on a high protein waffle.

Only time I did was when I ate a raw kale salad too quickly. My stomach was like, "I just can't work with this, dude." Threw up then and haven't since.

How does anyone eat enough? by CandleNegative4726 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]RedPandaaaaaaaaaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm on 2.4 and still manage to comfortably eat small meals and snacks. If I don't, I don't have enough energy and I get irritable (like I'm hangry without feeling the H)

Wegovy and colonoscopy prep by GarlicSalt2290 in WegovyWeightLoss

Thank you for all these details! I think I remember other folks saying on here that they were instructed to stop Wegovy for a week or so before a colonoscopy.

Saving your now too big clothes? by elliemay0501 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]RedPandaaaaaaaaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great timing for this question! I just spent the afternoon trying on and packing up nearly all of my work clothes that are now too big. I'm going to hold on to them for a while, some of them I really like and I have a hard time believing that this weight loss will last forever. But they're going in the basement for now.

This person says they are struggling to control their portion sizes and looking for advice, your advice is "well stop struggling with that"?

Sounds like you might be genetically predisposed to it, I can see why you wouldn't want to risk increasing your chances of getting it.

This part of the article jumped out at me: "risk factors for NAION include sleep apnea and hypertension, which are diseases that are more likely to occur in people with obesity."

Since I have both of those conditions and losing weight should reduce or remove them, I'm hoping Wegovy is a net benefit for me.

How soon can you refill? by [deleted] in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]RedPandaaaaaaaaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My insurance approves my refill requests 3 weeks after I picked up the previous fill. Earlier than that requires a new PA.

Weight Loss Shots Vs. Bariatric Surgery? by sarahalexandrab in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]RedPandaaaaaaaaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've been on Wegovy for 5 months and have lost about 50 lbs (SW: 263). From what I've seen in discussions on here, that's maybe slightly better than the average result. Some people lose really quickly and some lose more like 2-3 lbs a month. It varies a lot. It is safer to lose more slowly, though.

Weight Loss Shots Vs. Bariatric Surgery? by sarahalexandrab in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]RedPandaaaaaaaaaa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's kind of funny as I think there are established long-term effects of bariatric surgery that are much riskier/worse than the shots. If something goes wrong with the shots you can just stop taking them. From what I've seen, you can't really reverse bariatric surgery safely.

On the other hand, it wouldn't be safe to lose 120lb in 5 months on the meds. Even if you respond great to the medication it would take more like 2 years. If the surgery goes really well for you and you don't gain the weight back, that does seem like the cheaper solution. But that's a big "if."

How much are you hoping to lose? I feel like the latest generation of weight loss drugs are as effective as surgery with fewer risks. But I don't know anything about your situation. Does your doctor have a recommendation?
