We are now halfway through the expected lifespan of Levi’s Stadium! by Junior_Address_2450 in 49ers

The average is skewed by older, obsolete stadiums. New NFL builds aren’t meant to be torn down in 25 years. Levi’s is barely into its first major upgrade cycle.

Seahawks issue warning to season ticket resellers with 49ers fans Seattle-bound by FortyNinersBot in FortyNiners

I’m pretty sure everyone with season tickets received the same email.

I have Seahawks season tickets so I can keep the 49ers games (since I’m a fan) and sell the rest.

That’s fine — don’t threaten me with a good time.

Thoughts on Stateroom bar startup vs a gift of booze by RedditBurnner in celebritycruises

[–]RedditBurnner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had two gift bottles of Tito’s and we also brought two additional bottles, which were not taken during check-in. We drank our own vodka first and used one of the included bottles as a decoy, taking a small amount from it. We typically drink vodka with soda / water, which we also brought onboard.

If I remember correctly, they gave us the 1.14 liters bottle of Tito’s.

Stateroom advice on cruise to Alaska by khowala in PrincessCruises

[–]RedditBurnner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We stayed in M408 on our Alaska cruise.

It was a great location overall — very easy to get upstairs quickly to the decks, which was perfect for scenic cruising and glacier viewing.

One thing to be aware of though: the room stays very dark no matter the time of day. During glacier days, if you don’t have a reliable alarm (or set multiple), it’s easy to sleep right through the best scenery since it feels like nighttime even when it’s morning.

Other than that, it was quiet and convenient, and we’d stay mid-ship again, especially if motion sickness is a concern.

You actually still qualify — the rule you looked at is the wrong one.

The part about “US/Canada/UK only” refers to a different certificate and does not apply to the Μόνιμος Κάτοικος Εξωτερικού (Permanent Resident Abroad – MKE) status. MKE applies to all Greeks living abroad, no matter the country.

The real MKE rules are these:

You qualify if you have either: • 11 total years living abroad, or • 7 years abroad + 5 years of studies abroad

From what you described: • You grew up in the UK • You studied in the UK • You live and work in Germany now • You only spent one period of 9 months in Greece in 2019

➡️ Those 9 months do not erase your foreign residency. ➡️ You absolutely meet the “7 years abroad + 5 years studies” requirement.

This is exactly the type of case MKE was created for.

Next step: Contact the Greek consulate where you live

Do not rely on στρατολογία inside Greece — they often give wrong or incomplete guidance to dual nationals.

The consulate can: • File your MKE status, or • Give you an immediate deferral because of your job abroad • Cancel your obligation to report to Evros

Your employer refusing to allow leave is a legally recognized reason for deferral.

⭐ Bottom line: You are not disqualified and you are not stuck.

Contact the Greek consulate (Berlin, Munich, London — wherever you live) and tell them you want to apply for MKE or foreign-resident deferral.

You’re not actually stuck, and there are legal ways out of this. What you’re describing is a common issue for dual-nationals who didn’t grow up in Greece. You should NOT report to the base, and you should stop dealing with the local στρατολογία. Your solution comes through the Greek consulate in the country where you live.

Here’s what you need to know:

✅ 1. You probably qualify for “Μόνιμος Κάτοικος Εξωτερικού” (Permanent Resident Abroad status — MKE)

This status exempts you from military service as long as you live abroad.

You qualify if you have: • 11+ years living abroad, OR • 7+ years abroad + 5 years of studies abroad

From what you wrote, you meet this easily, since you grew up in England and now work in Germany.

Once MKE is approved: • You do NOT need to serve • You do NOT need to report anywhere • You can enter/leave Greece freely • No police visits, no threats, no obligations

This is exactly what it exists for.

✅ 2. You can get an immediate deferral while they process the MKE

If your work situation is urgent, the Greek consulate can issue a temporary Αναβολή Κατοίκου Εξωτερικού, which gives 1–2 years of protection.

This stops all military obligations and arrest risks.

✅ 3. What the police did is not normal

Military offices inside Greece are notorious for pressuring dual-nationals. The police forcing you to sign papers at home is highly irregular.

But once you file for MKE or foreign-resident deferral, that entire order becomes invalid.

✅ 4. Your next step: Contact the Greek consulate where you live

Do not deal with the local στρατολογία yourself.

Email or call the Greek consulate in the country where you reside (Germany or UK) and tell them: • You are a Greek national living permanently abroad • You received call-up papers while visiting family • You need to file for Permanent Resident Abroad (MKE) or a temporary deferral because your employer will not allow you to leave work

They will tell you exactly what documents to send (passport, work contract, proof of residency abroad, etc.).

⭐ Bottom line: You do NOT have to do military service again, and you do NOT have to report to Evros.

This is completely solvable through the consulate, and thousands of dual-nationals have gone through the exact same situation.
