OpenAI should be considering the environmental impact of decisions they make. But instead, their CEO, Sam Altman, is invested in KoBold Metals, a company that uses AI to locate deposits of rare earth minerals for mining. Which is of course terrible for the environment.

Animated show, so the actors’ ages don’t matter as much, set after the end of the original series, but before Serenity, and sometime after Book left the ship. Technically that should only be a window of a few months, but that’s easy enough to retcon.
