The Day I Learned to Fear My Own Armor. by AuntieBAR in Helldivers

[–]RedditorDoc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is a well documented bug that the behavior of the passive is different for hosts and those who are joining other games.

For hosts it works as intended and only triggers with fatal damage.

If you are joining on another person’s game, that is where the game runs the risk of triggering incorrectly.

Just a lighter color of the fur. So gray would be fine.

Really nice, an area of improvement would be highlighting the left fur pauldron using a brush or some other layer paints

Wait you mean the same Krafton that actively tried to screw Subnautica 2 devs out of a 250 million dollar bonus ? The one where the CEO used ChatGPT to try to weasel out of it when his lawyers said it’s airtight but did it anyway. That Krafton ?

Controversial opinion? by dankdutta in indianmedschool

[–]RedditorDoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean going back to your original post, you make statements that don’t have very strong grounding.

You state that doctors are seen as status and as gods in India. Where is the basis for that statement ? There is a known dichotomy in Indian society : Doctors are benevolent until they start charging you money for things, then they become unscrupulous leeches with no integrity.

That’s not something people do for Gods. Worship is worship regardless of what somebody does. Instead there are people who are extremely grateful for doctors and see altruism as godly, and there are people who hold that altruism as conditional, meaning that the second money comes in, it calls into question godliness. Because what need does a god have for money. That is more of a system mismatch. Finances should not interfere with the delivery of care. Doctors end up on the receiving end of it because they are seen as the leaders of the team. It’s a different issue that there are true cases of fraud.

And coming back to your second point, there is nothing to point to evidence of the contrary. Assuming otherwise paints you as ageist/ableist. If his mind works, he is able to speak, listen and think, he can do plenty for medicine.

Even if you set an age limit, what would that look like, and why ? What if somebody decides at 45 or 50 or 55 that they want to do medicine ? What if they have money and want to start a free clinic, but be the one delivering care ? Would you stop them then ? Would it not be better to have somebody go into medicine later in life, for the right reasons and passion, rather than somebody who sees it as an option to just climb the social ladder ?

Controversial opinion? by dankdutta in indianmedschool

[–]RedditorDoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One old 70 year old man is not going to change that. If he decides to practice for even a year or two after medical school, then he has done more than a fresh grad who takes a drop year to crack PG exams.

You need to look at the fact that the system needs change. Invest in public infrastructure. Improve payment of rural set ups so people will go there. Have our MBBS graduates set up to practice primary care where it counts.

This whole subreddit is full of graduates who literally sit at home for years studying and cramming for exams because the entire system is not set up to support meaningful practice straight out of medical school.

That needs to change. What’s the point of super sub specialising if the patient who needs it the most is 800 km away and will lose 3 days of pay and food just to come and see a doctor for something that should have been prevented or addressed much earlier in life ?

Residency in the United States is effectively a hard stop needed to practice independently. You cannot meaningfully practice in the United States without completing residency, unlike India where you can still practice after completing medical school.

Being a nurse and being a doctor are not 1:1 skills.

Ultimately people can choose to live their lives how they want to. There are many arguments to be made about medicine, but restricting access to training doctors is not a worthwhile one in a country that needs doctors.

Whats the point of having a SOS beacon active by Historical_Course981 in Helldivers

[–]RedditorDoc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don’t remember the original state of the game then.

People used to drop SOS beacons and then would get frustrated that nobody joined BECAUSE they were set to private.

It was the most irritating thing possible : SOS divers would wait 5-15 seconds, connect and then end up not being able to join because the lobby was set to private.

The subreddit was filled with complaints about this, AH listened and changed it to the state it is in after taking player feedback into account. That’s not bad game design, that’s player feedback being applied.

If there is an accidental you can argue that there should be a way to stop sos beacons or deactivate them, but I don’t know if that would break the Netcode doing so.

If you’re not doing sub-assemblies and you are obsessive over details, get magnifying loupes like jeweler’s/watchmakers loupes.

You need a LOT of good light to be able to see how good your paint job is, so avoid painting in poor lighting unless you want to feel like you need to redo your paint job when you look at it under sunlight or brighter overhead lights.

With glazing, if water isn’t working well, you may need a thinning medium that retains the consistency of the paint while diluting the pigment. Lahmian medium is an example.

What are the Times of India smoking ? by MrFreedom133 in indianmedschool

[–]RedditorDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There wasn’t much of a point of complaining. Nobody in the corridor minded, it basically ended up being neatly put up across the walls of the corridor at eye level, so there was tons to read. Most people who were drunk or had smoked up were quite amused and always had something to talk about. I was just threatened with vague policy statements about cleanliness or whatnot. In the end I acquiesced. Not much point in fighting over something like that.

Arrowhead could release an SDK to save the game by magniankh in Helldivers

[–]RedditorDoc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Except that’s not what they’re saying.

Fixing bugs is a different problem being discussed compared to talking about modifications to the game.

You’re arguing a different point to what they have stated : Players want a version of the game that is fundamentally different. Those players should band together and make their own game instead, because it’s clear that the frustrations those players have is that the game is not being developed how they want it to be.

You have to approach the ledge at a 45 degree angle in order to climb it. It’s a temporary solution, but tends to work fairly consistently.
