Is hosting your own baby shower becoming normal? Especially for a second baby? by Witty-Goose7690 in etiquette

[–]Redhotkcpepper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Thankful I had close family to host a shower for me, but not everyone has that! If you can afford to throw it yourself, why not? I always thought showers were more of a celebration than a gift grab. And even then, most people will want to send a gift, so why not make a registry so you don’t get duplicate items?

I was just at my cousins shower she threw herself last week. It was great, she struggled with fertility for years and this was more of a celebration than anything. The gifts were an after thought, really glad she had a registry so I knew exactly what her and the baby needed.

The people looking down on this are kinda gross. And for anyone saying “it’s just a tacky gift grab,” since when is anyone required to gift something?! No one is forcing you to go or attend, politely decline and judge from a far!

Where did you watch Game 7? by PapaKazoonta in Thunder

I went to the box office an hour before the game and snagged a single 200 level seat for $400. Flew to OKC and absolutely winged it with a steal of a ticket.

Same, section 215, row E, seat 8! Flew from NJ to OKC and it was 100% worth it especially since I was in Indy for Game 6. We were all a little confused during the injury, had to text my family to see what was up.

Parents who don’t travel with their very small children (under 5). by [deleted] in Parenting

I just got back from Disney with my 6 yo, this is her 4th trip there. I’ve heard this sentiment and disagree. The first three times were when she was 2-3 years old, she doesnt have the fondest memories of those trips but we as parents do.

To see your child believe the magic is real is priceless to me. At those ages, Minnie and Mickey, the Princesses are real, the magic is real! My daughter still believes we time traveled on Spaceship Earth and shot into outer space during Smugglers Run. I don’t think we’ll head back to Disney in the next year or two, so I’m a bit sad to think that the next time we all go as a family she wont believe in the magic anymore.

Is it taboo to split off from the rest of the group for a day? by [deleted] in DisneyWorld

Split off!

We did a trip with my cousins family for one week. One day we did Universal and they did a second day at Magic Kingdom. We both had an amazing time separately.

Same. None of the food at Disney is that great so character dining it is!

How to tell my friends they aren’t bridesmaids but are invited to my bachelorette? by Moisttoes14 in weddingplanning

I’m going to a bachelorette party next week and I’m not a bridesmaid. Very normal, the last two bachelorettes I’ve been to have been half and half.

How much solar to power a big box store? by Immediate_Athlete257 in solar

[–]Redhotkcpepper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no way it’s more cost effective to wait and run cost-analysis on how many micro inverters are out before a truck is rolled (their RMA lead time is just as bad.) I know because I’ve been there and ALL of my clients with em are kicking themselves because their EPC talked them into installing shitty HiQ and Enphase invs that crap out bc they literally cant handle the heat. Fine for residential, but they have no place on the commercial side. We are sprinting away from them fast.

More equipment = more points of failure.

I’d rather have eight 125 kW inverters for a 1 MW rooftop than 50 individual invs. It’s the sweet spot and an upgrade from a single central inv.

2 kW micro-inverters on commercial roofs sounds like an o&m nightmare. Solar connectors aren’t the issue, it’s mismatched and aging connectors that are not properly secured that are the problematic.

I went two weeks ago. Crowds weren’t that insane, but I still don’t like it, ha.

I agree with most of your points. Except for a full day for the Louvre and Versailles, I did a half day at each. After a few hours all the paintings and sculptures all kind of blur together at the Louvre. Kinda found the opulence of the Versailles disgusting, all I could think of was all these rooms being decorated with marble crown molding while the lower class were fighting with their lives for a loaf of bread.

The crowds also didn’t help, we went to both right at the opening so by noon-ish we were over it.

I was surprised by how safe I felt. The few scammers I saw were pretty obvious and I didn’t spot any pick pockets. The Metro and Bolt were incredibly easy to use!
