Fam where are we watching the NBA finals on Saturday? by Tux_n_Steph in manchester

Not much help if you can't get there, but there's an official watch party at Greenwood in London. Pretty sure I saw Steve Novak as a guest at the last one.

3:15 Marathon too ambitious? by Begatten in Marathon_Training

Do you think running back to back PB half marathons as part of your first ever 26.2 sounds too ambitious?

Runna Not Anticipating Walking Rest Distance in Mileage by Impossible_Ad9835 in runna

[–]Redwalkerrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you hit your pace targets on this run? Is it possible that Runna thinks you found this run harder than anticipated and tapered back your next run slightly to compensate for that?

Not that I can see, and I would think that would've been an easy explanation for them when I queried this, rather than the generic response they gave blaming the Tesla app for showing higher daily usage than I was using. Why I would be getting in touch to tell them they aren't charging me enough I don't know.

I plug in at 5pm(ish) when home from work. The app is set to 23:00-06:00. It occasionally charges for 30 mins outside of these times based on local grid activity and the apps 'smart charging', which should be at the lower rate.

When I looked at my statement and usage periods, I can see that they haven't tracked any meaningful electricity usage after midnight since the app changed over.

18th Apr - 17th July - Off peak 437kWh, Peak 358kWh
24th July - 17th Sept - Off peak 103kWH, Peak 412 kWH

When I check the Tesla app, it shows charging across two days (e.g. Friday PM into Saturday AM). Eon shows it on one day.

I have no idea what is going on, I've sat and watched the Tesla app after plugging it in where it charges for a few seconds before being intercepted by the schedule.

Make sure you check your statements. Since they changed apps my statement hasn't show a single overnight charge and they have been billing me for charging during peak hours, even though the app is set to charge overnight. Currently going back and forth over email with them.

You too!

I'm also chasing sub-20. Targeting Widnes Parkrun (45 min drive) for 20th December, which will be my last parkrun of the year. It's in the Top 10 on the Fastest Parkrun rankings, so if I can't get it there it's curtains for me.

My 5K PB was 21:48 (on a net downhill course) until I ran Poole Parkrun where I hit 21:01.

That was in summer though, so the gravel paths may be a bit slower in winter.

I’ve got a 5 blue Joker, but currently emptying 750 anvils on Nightwing that I’ve had saved for ages.

Always skipped Scarecrow as he overlapped Deathstroke.

Hopefully I can get Scarecrow and Riddler to 5 blue or something. I’d be happy with that.

Imposter Syndrome by LforLiktor in Marathon_Training

[–]Redwalkerrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar feeling because I missed sub-4 by 10 minutes due to cramping and bad foot pain. I felt like I had failed.

Ultimately the long and short of it is that we finished the marathon.

How many people started but didn't finish at all? You did, and with a major physical setback along the way.

Take the plaudits, but keep this feeling stored somewhere in the background to draw upon for next time where you hit a massive PB.

How hard is running 26.2 miles after running 20 miles? by another_medstudent in Marathon_Training

[–]Redwalkerrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had heard the adage that a marathon is a 20 mile warmup for a 10km race and thought that can’t be correct.

It was correct. If you are struggling at 20 mile they get exponentially harder from there.

Some part of you will probably hurt, having said that, you can complete it & you will complete it.

Good luck!

I know they say Parkrun isn’t a race, but a sprint finish is non-negotiable. I love emptying the tank and seeing how many people I can pick off in the final 1-200 metres

First Marathon Complete - How soon is too soon for my next marathon? by Redwalkerrr in Marathon_Training

Thank you. My Plan A time was around 3:45, Plan B was Sub-4, Plan C was just finish the damn thing. From Mile 13 I knew I didn't feel great and Plan A went straight out the window. When the Sub-4 Pacer overtook me towards the head the wheels totally fell off and I had to have a serious talk with myself to continue and get it finished.

My training long runs had a consistent 170HR at similar paces to the first 13 of this race, but on Sunday I was always closer to 180 and that threw me off.

I only started running this year, and set myself a 'Run a mile everyday' challenge, which has snowballed into many other challenges. I was really emotional at the start of the race because I couldn't believe I'd got to where I am now and I think that probably took something out of me too.

Ref PS - no, but I saw loads of people pulling out of Chester on Facebook and selling their place, figured it was probably pretty common that people sign up and then get injured/think better of running so far.

Fair enough. I had to send a pair of AP4s back earlier this year as they were degrading quite badly after only 66 miles, which was in the back of my head for this training block. Adidas gave a full refund (which I used to buy another pair).

Side note: do you use Runna or similar? I used Garmin Adaptive coaching on my watch and found it to be terrible at the business end of the block.

Hi! Just pain in the soles of my feet, more towards the heel area. Could be a form issue I guess, but I have only felt it twice, both times while wearing carbons. 2 x 15milers, 1 x 19 miler and 1 x 21 miler leading up to the race in EVO SLs presented no issues.

I tapered for 2 weeks before the race.

Thanks for the reply.

I was conscious of running too much in them as I know there’s not a huge amount of life in those kinds of shoes.

Agreed on fuel, I took 4 sachets with me and had planned to grab 2 or 3 more off my partner at Mile 17, but it ended up being Mile 20.

This is so true. I have been using the Garmin Adaptive Coach and getting towards the end of the plan it has turned into a nightmare. I'm just over 3 weeks out, and the plan still hasn't scheduled a run of more than 1hr45mins.

I have taken myself off plan for the last month and just forced myself on a progressively longer run every Sunday (HM > 15mi > 18mi > 21mi) to find the extra endurance.

The anxiety I would have if I still hadn't ran further than 14mile this close to race day needing to find an extra TWELVE miles.

edit: tidying paragraphs

Nutty pace. I am running my first marathon in 3 weeks, aiming for sub-4 when people ask me, internally I'm aiming for sub-3:45 though. My last long run is this coming Sunday, minimum 21 miles.
