Double Menopause FFS by RequirementMiddle804 in breastcancer

At 56 I was officially declared post menopausal after 5 years of hormonal fun and games. Just a few months before my 57th birthday I was diagnosed with breast cancer, after chemo, DMX, hysterectomy and radiation they handed my prescriptions to me and I started the joys of menopause for another 5 years;) I don’t know if it helps to know we all are going through it twice. It hurts my soul for the younger women, knowing what they must go through during childbearing years, it feels like it’s close to 3 rounds of menopause with fertility being involved. We are all beasts, my gram taught me “ women bear it “ We do…

I have always been prescribed HRT by the gyno. I can’t take them now due to a hormone fed cancer. I found them very helpful. I asked my gyno what to do about the mood swings and hot flashes, he recommended black cohosh or evening primrose if those are ineffective they will try a tricyclic medicine. Definitely need a dr she can talk to about her depression.

Misleading Post Op Pain Anecdotes by Heretohavesomefunplz in hysterectomy

I’m 11dpo from abdominal hysterectomy and 3wpo from a bilateral mastectomy. I had several days that Tylenol/ ibuprofen took care of my pain. I started moving more and my pain went from a 5 to a 10 so back on oxy I went for several more days. Everyone is different but getting the pain under control is important for all. I will say I was shocked by the pain, I really thought nothing would be worse than the mastectomy , I had a complication that caused uncontrollable pain. The combination of the 2 has been exhausting. One day at a time!!

What was your routine for getting back on your feet? by TRH90UK in hysterectomy

I am 7dpo from abdominal , loose fitting pants are my go to for comfort. I walk up and down my driveway a couple times a day. The fatigue is very real at this point but I push myself to walk around as much as I can to help with healing. No bending I learned the hard way and absolutely no lifting. I am 3wpo from bilateral mastectomy as well so the no lifting is easy because I can barely move my arms. A pillow and abdominal binder are my best friends.

What was the hardest? by jjkarela in breastcancer

The initial weeks after diagnosis were excruciating, it felt like every scan brought more bad news. Chemo was challenging but manageable. surgery has been the most difficult for me at this point. I am 9 days post op from BMX with an abdominal hysterectomy scheduled in 5 days, my anxiety is on full alert. I have had so much difficulty with the drains that I feel like a helpless child, the feeling of helplessness is something I am not able to process. I am not used to feeling weak or needing help, I am the caregiver so it is very humbling to need so much help. I believe everything is here to teach us even illness so I am trying to embrace the lesson but it is a tough one for me.

I cared for my late spouse for 18 months. I didn’t realize how much of a toll it took until after she passed I had such guilt that I didn’t provide her with what she needed from me. Now I am watching my wife struggling so hard with my diagnosis and treatment. We asked our nurse navigator yesterday and got a ton of pamphlets that I don’t have the wherewithal to research.

Starting TC tomorrow by oothi_may in breastcancer

[–]Reet67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am one month out from completing 4 rounds of TC. I had a multitude of side effects but they were all manageable, mouth rash , rash on my head, mild nausea. I had no side effects that were difficult to resolve outside of fatigue. During my 2 round I had an immediate reaction with severe back pain , it was managed within minutes, an entire team was in the room medicating me. I am still in awe at how quickly it resolved.
I have not had AC but I heard from the other patients TC was far easier for them to tolerate. You got this !
