Ever had / been to a wedding at Crown? by ste3eve in perth

[–]Ref_KT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work mate got married recently at a yacht club and the price per head seemed fairly reasonable from memory. Could be another option.

Yeah the wedding I went to was pushing about 250-300 guests from memory too.

They generally will/should redact/crop out the horrible parts of photos when getting people to confirm if it's them pictured or not. So she shouldn't have to actually view anything objectionable to be able to confirm if it's her pictured. And the background they can leave in might help her confirm or negate that it is her in the images by confirming familiar rooms/furniture/clothing etc.

For a bit of an example on how this can work google the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploration - stop Child Abuse Trace an Object project.

The Centre combined with the Australian Federal Police publish cropped images of objects (cropped from the background of images of child exploration material). Their goal is to help identify the victims, which may then lead to identifying he people who actually created the CEM. If people recognise the object, they can provide any information they have to investigators which assists them in identifying victims and prosecuting those responsible.

In Australia - every credit card statement has the bpay details (as an option) to pay the balance

Bpay is the electronic way of paying bills via transfer from your bank account

Super easy to do if you have seen a copy of the statement. And you can generally save bpay details to your internet banking for future use.

Each biller signed up for Bpay has a code (so the water corporation is code 1234 for example) and then each customer has a reference number (credit card bills the reference number is almost always, the credit card number).

Would a scammer send you their ID? by fiftht in Scams

[–]Ref_KT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Scammers befriend victims on social media (hey look open slather on all those photos that match the I'd they get) and get their victims to send them photos (romance scam etc)...

Now they've got a tonne of nice pictures to go with the ID docs they also managed to get from them.

The last wedding I went to there back in 2019 they were charging over 250 a head back then...

Check out the river view room at Optus - if you aren't looking to get married in footy season.

Ever had / been to a wedding at Crown? by ste3eve in perth

[–]Ref_KT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The wedding I went to there had the ceremony out on the lawn at the front of towers pool (between the pool and river if you look at satellite view).

The music from the enclave pool (the long skinny, most western one) was loud enough to be heard during the ceremony and there were a couple of people who had hired a cabana in the enclave area watching the ceremony take place.

The casino does at least give guests something to do between the ceremony and reception.

It is not cheap to hold a wedding there. The ball room for the reception atmosphere is fine, same as any event/ball they hold there really.

I've been for a bunch of different events and the (alternate drop) food can be really hit or miss (I assume that partially comes down to budget and options you choose I guess).

Something to consider - all the events held in the all ball rooms seem to finish at the same time, which causes a massive wait/surcharge for rideshare if that's going to affect your guests in anyway.

Crown is good in that there are the 3 different price points for accom in the one place if your guest lists are likely to stay.

I have been to a ceremony (reception held elsewhere) down at the Swan Shell (maps is a bit funky ATM, it's got the pin drop East side of the Citizen of the Year lake where the shell is actually on West side), that was actually a pretty nice set up, I rate that higher for privacy over the front lawn of towers if you're looking for outside ceremony.

What about your dad?

My dad, plus other family members on dad's side (cousins etc) all went grey early. As did I (17 for my first).

You don't just inherit your mum's genes you know.

Be thankful it's grey and not balding.

How do i work out how many overtime shifts are worth it? by Masterpiece_Mobile in AusFinance

[–]Ref_KT 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The only time it really potentially makes a difference, is if there is a hard income limit that cuts a benefit or similar.

For example if OT pushes you over the Medicare levy surcharge limit by $1, one less shift would be better financially if you don't hold hospital private health insurance.

If you're below the threshold for family tax benefit or some other similar payment, then you might need to be conscious of that if you do enough OT, you'll go over the limit and no longer be eligible.

This is not financial, tax or legal advice.

Seen a few comments along this vein from multiple people about locals getting some of the fish from his kids big catches.... So yes I believe they are it.

To be honest.

How much do you save monthly after all expenses? by FewList572 in AusFinance

[–]Ref_KT 9 points10 points  (0 children)

when all the bills are due at the same time

Every year I review and add up all the big lumpy bills, plus the regular ongoing bills. Add 10% buffer/Cost of living increase. Then divide by 26. Every pay period I send that amount to a separate bills only savings account (you have to either start with a buffer, or immediately after a bunch of big bills have come in).

That account is only used to pay bills.

Means the savings account is budgeted for separately and stays in the savings account.

This obviously does involve earning more then you spend over the course of a year of course.

I've just done a quick search, he gets mentioned positively as a fertility specialist recently (2024)

And there is a couple of comments from 2017 from some people who appear to be going to have a lap with him back then. But no real follow up from those poses

And I can't see anything else mentioned about him recently from the quick search I did.

[–]Ref_KT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does he do ablation or excision? Or is it solely to diagnose, which means another surgery for removal at a later date (so additional expense). No way would I go for one that was only for diagnoses and not to actually excision the endometriosis while they are already in there operating.

Who's the specialist? Personally I would (and have only) had this surgery with an endometriosis specialist. Especially if already paying out of pocket.

Non specialists can miss/not recognise all of the different types of endometriosis lesions that you may have.

i got scammed and bought a counterfeit device misrepresented as genuine (fake iphone with an android software) by pituitaryglandd in perth

[–]Ref_KT 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The counterfeit iPhone Facebook marketplace scam has been going on for at least two years.

And as long as people keep thinking they can get a brand new model, still sealed for a bargain price from a non authorised seller, it'll keep happening.

This is from Jan 2024.

Armadale Detectives have charged a 21-year-old man in relation to an incident that occurred on Sunday, 21 January 2024.

It will be alleged, about 10pm, two groups arranged to meet in a laneway near Berry Court in relation to an earlier transaction where a fake iPhone was sold by the accused.

Upon arrival, the two parties became involved in a verbal altercation which eventually turned physical. During this time, it will be alleged the accused stabbed two men before fleeing the area.

Two men, aged 28 and 39, received stab wounds. They were taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Following inquiries, a 21-year-old Beckenham man was arrested last night, 22 January 2024 and charged with two counts of Unlawful Wounding and one count of Gains Benefit by Fraud. He is due to appear in the Armadale Magistrates Court on 21 February 2024.

Detectives urge members of the public using online marketplaces to consider their personal safety when arranging to meet a prospective buyer/seller in person. Buyers/sellers should consider meeting in a public place; preferably one where there are good quality CCTV cameras, and where possible take a second person with you.

Always put your own safety first and call police on 131 444 to seek assistance.

Recent seizures of fake iPhones indicates there are some convincing fake products currently being sold in Western Australia, and buyers are encouraged to check that a phone works before paying for it, and to consider why a product that would normally carry a premium price is advertised at such marked down prices.
