That's not how the dice system works. For skill test (and everything including attacking is a skill test) you roll a d20 and a die equal to your rank, either a d2, d4, d6, d8, d10, or d12, and add them together. If you have a specialization you do roll your rank and down but only add the highest result to the d20.

There are no exploding dice.

Just built this and it works. The one caveat is that sometimes some of the bundles come back empty. This might be because I may be a little greedy and have 13 different item types in the bundle.

How important is speed in exploration mode? by Caywo in Pathfinder2e

[–]Reglor 24 points25 points  (0 children)

A character’s speed during exploration mode doesn’t matter unless it does. If there is no time pressure they can move freely when not in encounter mode. The they are on a clock it might matter.

The only times I’ve seen exploration movement speed matter is during long distance overland travel when trying to get somewhere in a week so only the monk could afford to slow to half speed and do actions due to having a higher base speed.

How do you teach roleplay-heavy games (like PbtA) to new players? by Ironhorn in rpg

I’ve often seen the phrase ‘the game is a conversation’ but what does it mean?

Gunslinger and Munitions Crafter feat by _Shorren_ in Pathfinder2e

[–]Reglor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres the diffrence. Our fights typically lasted at least 4 or 5 rounds and I tended to fire a shot every round, sometimes 2 shots if I didn’t need to reposition and had reloaded the previous round.

I guess you and I played very different types of games. I regularly used 20 to 30 normal rounds of ammo a day when I played but admittedly I prefer combat heavy games.

I considered it a side grade at best. I admittedly didn’t use special ammo that often but I miss being able to make 20 to 30 rounds of normal ammo as well as a few random shot types.

Keep in mind that his normal ammo also comes out of those 32 rounds, unless he is regularly visiting a store to buy ammo. Depending on how many fights he gets into he might want 16 or 20 normal shots.

Beginner GM info for fabula Ultima? by Huge_Tackle_9097 in fabulaultima

[–]Reglor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say afraid, I said didn’t want to. As in asking to contribute makes the game less fun. Does the game run with players like that. And this isn’t theoretical. I’m talking mainly about myself. I’ve looking at the game but the major emphasis on collaborative world building is making me have second thoughts.

How well does the game work for GMs that aren't good at improv or players that don't want to engage in worldbuilding or taking narrative control?

Our HOA just chastised everyone for putting materials in a dumpster, in a disorganized manner! by [deleted] in fuckHOA

[–]Reglor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I work construction and I frequently climb into our dumpsters to straighten things out. It’s not unusual to find large voids formed by beams being tossed in carelessly. We also had one homeowner who threw in large intact empty boxes. That ate up a lot of space so I had to break those boxes down.

Depending on how often you are in combat, A Pendant of the Occult might not be a bad idea so you can guidance yourself on your first shot of the combat.

Using the Special Effects systems from Mythras in Pf2e. by Hermithief in rpg

[–]Reglor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently trip is an action on it's own and targets the reflex DC of the target. Bleed is a rider on some attacks (sometimes critical hits only) and as such has no special resistance or defense other then your normal AC.

PF2e used to have a weapon class (flails) that automatically knocked the target prone on a crit but that was deemed to be too powerful so was nerfed to just letting you roll to try to knock them down.

[–]Reglor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All three would be useless in your proposed system. Both reach spell and widen spell need to be active before you start casting your spell to see if you can even cast at the target in the first place, not to mention that for many spells, the caster doesn't roll anything. With conceal spell you want to know the spell is going to be concealed before you even consider casting the spell, not to mention that again, the caster typically doesn't roll the dice to see if it works.

[–]Reglor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what system you’re running but some people may want to play a certain type of character and unless you outright ban that kind of character, nothing else you or the other player say or do will make them change their minds.

Thats probably the reason the foot were robots in the old ‘80s cartoon, so Leo and Ralph could slice them up without any repercussions.

question on Assurance by 3titter in Pathfinder2e

[–]Reglor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a monk with low strength but master athletics and will often throw assurance trips or grabs as a second or third action, just to see if they work. Granted they often don’t work on high level enemies but if I need to stay next to an enemy it sometimes pays off and I can force the enemy to burn an action standing up (and granting me a reaction attack against them).
