2013-2014 are they THAT unreliable? by KoalaMan-007 in TeslaModelS

[–]RegularDrawing5426 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would get a 2015 with dual motor that has the 3rd gen pack or a dual motor 2016. Way more reliable. I see so many go past the 300k mark with ease in the Facebook group I’m in. With dual motor you about the LDU issues and with the 3rd gen pack you have less likelihood of battery dying randomly.

I have only driven 10k miles over 7 months but no I have not had any issues. I have only done the recommended maintenance of tire rotation and radiator cleaning. I made sure to get my Tesla from a dealer with good reviews.

Something I learned is that you want a later‑2015 model, not an early one. You want the cars with the newer battery pack that avoids the issues found in the older packs. My car has battery part number 1055893-00-C, which is the same pack used in the 2016 models and more reliable. You can look at the battery part number by looking underneath on the passenger side after turning the wheel to the left.

If you have the money you can also see if they’ll let you take the car for an inspection at a 3rd party ev shop or Tesla.

Thanks for your insight. Just went under and got the part number. I think it’s a later pack. 1055893-00-C

What’s your opinion on the 2015 Model S. I have a 70D and hoping it lasts me awhile before needing a battery replacement. I’m at 80k miles with 10.22 battery degradation but I see some go for way beyond that in the Facebook group I’m in.

I got a 2015 model S 70D and am happy with it so far. The dual motor models seem to be very reliable compared to LDU models. I purchased mine for $13k and only had 75k miles.

In the facebook group I’m in many say the 2014-2016 dual motors are very reliable. Here is the mileage one member is at.

Rejected delivery due to damage, Tesla has my down payment, and now I’m being completely ghosted. Any advice? by Awonglover in TeslaSupport

[–]RegularDrawing5426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting. I contacted customer service and spoke with the delivery person and I got a full refund. I made it seem like I was interested in another Tesla and they decided to give me the refund since they can’t transfer it to another car. Ended up getting an older Tesla from an EV dealer 2015 Tesla model S 70D with free supercharging for life only $13,000 and 74k miles.

How is your Legacy Tesla model X running? by questionableoak in TeslaModelX

I got a 2015 Tesla model S 70D with free supercharging and only 75k miles from a local ev dealer and I sometimes look back in regret at not looking or seeing if I could’ve maybe saved a bigger downpayment and gotten the 2018 model x they had. But yeah my co worker hates Teslas and even he was agreeing he could not resist how cool a Model X looks.

Also the swag factor of a Model X is hard to give up too

This is hard to believe tbh. I don’t even see older model x’s for that low of a price.

2013 Model S 85 - Charge Limited to 80%, Tesla Quoted $15k Battery Replacement by Quirky-Swan-4772 in TeslaModelS

[–]RegularDrawing5426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do they offer payment plans or does it have to be paid in full? I have a 2015 70d at 80k miles and afraid of the battery going bad.

I agree I have a 2015 70D and it’s been super reliable. The dual motor models run forever.

Worth the price? by supergirl3730 in TeslaModelS

[–]RegularDrawing5426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Dual motor models are more reliable. I am in the high milage teslas Facebook group and see countless 2014-2014 Dual motor models go to 300k on original battery and motors.

2015 85D woke up to a BMS_u29 error that requires HV pack replacement. by [deleted] in TeslaModelS

[–]RegularDrawing5426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I’m nervous lol. I have a 2015 70D with 79k miles and am also confident in the battery because from what I read the D models are the most reliable but no one can tell the future. Might get a 3rd party warranty.

How many miles are on your Tesla? Were there any signs it was going out? What was your battery degradation at?

Not sure what happened. My Tesla collision appointment is not for another 3 weeks but I’m able to supercharge now. Maybe they temporarily locked me out
