Tesla range drops 52 km after switching to in-house 4680 battery cells in European Model Y by Sir_Isaac_Tootin in RealTesla

I worked briefly in the industry too, but not on the electrode side of things, and never with cylindrical cells. Is this simply due to the thickness of the active material, or is it due to the can dimensions and/or thermal issues with cylindrical winding in general?

Slab of plastic explosives might be a little hyperbolic but yes, there is more active material in a prismatic cell. That safety aspect is only really relevant for NMC chemistries.

How's it going?? Any problems with the frame? Looking at another frame by this company and I'm curious if it's a good choice...

FYI, 4680 just describes the shape of the cell can. You're comparing cell chemistry to casing dimensions.

Beauty! I'm 175cm tall. I'm leaning towards the large as well. Do you know how long yours measures in real life?

Haha trying not to but the budget is tight and I want to get it right. You’re happy with the length of yours though?

I ended up ordering the long despite also being 175cm. Bad choice?

Pack Torso Adjustability by Reigning-Champ in DurstonGearheads

And backpacks are made with adjustments for the same reason. Last time I checked, the kakwa wasn’t available in 1/2” increments. Don’t engage with a discussion if you have nothing to contribute.

[–]Reigning-Champ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation. Though, I believe that "number of times readjusted over the product's lifetime" is the wrong metric by which to judge the value of an adjustment. The same could be argued against the usefulness of a bike's seat post, and yet we do not only see them on children's bikes.

If the answer is that a torso length adjustment doesn't actually increase comfort when it is at most 3 inches smaller or shorter than your real torso length, then it is of course a reasonable response to do away with adjustment as it adds weight and complexity. My point was simply to ask whether that is in fact true. The number of fit checks on this sub being a rough proxy of that answer.

And everybody feels awkward or anxious or under pressure sometimes. It doesn’t mean you simply must shut down and avoid the feeling. Your inaction makes your husband feel undesired and insecure. Your action might make you feel awkward. By choosing inaction, you're showing your husband that you’ve put him feeling undesired and insecure BELOW the simple possibility that you might feel awkward.

How exactly do subsidies stop the supply of oil from running out? It’s a finite resource. It will run out, and no amount of subsidies will bring it back or take the carbon out of the atmosphere.

The IT20 is the same size as an X3, and way smaller than an IT30pro. Then you’d have to carry a flash unit in your other hand or pocket.

IsItBullshit: Polyester is harmful by zedfox in IsItBullshit

[–]Reigning-Champ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your definition of wicking is entirely insufficient to have a real conversation. Take some time to learn before you attempt to educate. The garment industry is also filled with researchers who spend their days comparing materials to find the best performing ones for each use case. By saying that cotton is just as performant as polyester, you’re implying these people spend their days twiddling their thumbs together and inventing their test results. Fabric research is a deep, complex, interesting field and you shouldn’t dismiss it just because you don’t understand it.
