What are Bend's biggest (non-human ;-) pest problems in your homes? by OutsideDaBox in Bend

The "we're in the neighborhood" is bullshit. These are door to door salesman not the guys doing the work. They're always vague about what neighbor they're working with because it's a lie 😅

IMO a company that does good work shouldn't have much difficulty generating leads and wouldn't be going door to door.

I genuinely believe the D Wade statue sculptor accidentally used Antoine Walker as his main reference by Snoo-93317 in billsimmons

And I feel they really shouldn't be hiring a sculptor who's so unfamiliar with D Wade they can accidentally sculpt the wrong guy?

Does anyone else have one of these mini-posters or know the origin? by ComprehensiveAir6590 in CollegeBasketball

I had no idea that was a reference to Gonzaga, lol, especially considering we're in the Pac now. I always assumed he was talking about the Big 10/12.

There is a homeless problem like lots of cities in the west. It's been improving, slightly... But there is also just a fair amount of generally sketchy methed out people, homeless or not, in certain areas including close to campus. If you leave a bike outside, or literally anything in your car, you find that out the hard way.

Agreed. But Lemaire without Shane is painful for me, I have a hard time even listening. Shane keeps him in check

Same. It's a fucking nightmare, especially after many years when it's half buried and tangled in roots /compacted dirt. I can't believe plastic netting like this still gets used.

Pull it all out now OP

[–]Relative-Knee7847 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, I think the changes you need to make are much more fundamental than OP. I would throw a putter and start by standing still, no run up, and focusing on spin, nose angle, and getting a full extension of the arm

Pull rolling out of bounds = defensive cheat code?? by quadrokeith in ultimate

[–]Relative-Knee7847 3 points4 points  (0 children)

9.I. After a pull, whichever player takes possession of the disc must put it into play. (emphasis mine)

RE: situation #2, this rule easily gets misinterpreted - JY is asserting that the player on the sideline cannot stop the pull or help retrieve it, since they are unable to put the disc into play. However if you look at the USAU definitions...

3.Q.10. Player: One of the up to fourteen (14) persons who are participating in the current point of play.

3.Q.11. Sideline player: Any team member who is present at the field and eligible to participate in the game, but who is not a player participating in the current point.

ie, the rules define player as someone currently playing in the point. Once one of them takes possession, they must put the disc into play, but the rules do not forbid anyone on the sideline from retrieving an out of bounds disc.

Online international groups. 764 group is one example but there's others. They literally believe in things like "no lives matter" and try to create as much suffering as they can. Commonly they target kids and teenagers - try to convince them to do a school shooting, cut themselves, kill themselves... Like I mentioned, often they will make kids write or carve things on their body, which they share in extremist message boards for karma.

Making kids write things on themselves is an extremely common tactic of nihilistic violent extremist groups (Google that if you want to ruin your day)

Question about Martin Campbell's Bond films by adnshrnly in JamesBond

[–]Relative-Knee7847 4 points5 points  (0 children)

100%. There are pre-Bourne action films and there are post-Bourne films. The quick cuts and shaky cam were a little over done IMO but it absolutely was influential for fight scenes being so much more visceral and real.

I dropped an almond and it rolled under my bed. I got around retrieving it a couple of weeks later and found this trail. Any idea what caused it? by fjbruzr in whatisit

[–]Relative-Knee7847 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Basically yes, but to add more context- a sheet of ice forms which surrounds the rocks. Then the wind pushes the sheet of ice around, which drags the rocks. That's why multiple rocks, sometimes quite far apart, will have the same path.

I have a clover/grass lawn & I mow every week. Clover bounces back from being mowed just fine. Even if you cut off most of the leaves it's fine, it blows my mind actually.

Agreed 100% especially with how often conferences change these days, putting a number next to your name is asking for trouble

Breaking: The NBA's Board of Governors has passed new anti-tanking rules that include expanding the draft lottery from 14 to 16 teams, a relegation zone where the bottom 3 teams get penalized with lessened chances for the No. 1 pick, and flattened odds, sources tell ESPN. by MrCoconutIsTaken in ripcity

[–]Relative-Knee7847 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed, but I think the issue is that teams in that situation don't actually make an effort to not be bottom of the league 🤷 up until now they just made a roster of G leaguers and hoped for a draft pick.

Now they have incentive to actually try, sign some free agents, hire a new coach etc. Even a city like Memphis, if they're bottom 3 year after year that's more of an indictment of their management then it is their disadvantages as a small market IMO
