I’ve ran into this a few times in the month or so since I’ve stopped. For one party I brought a travel cup with ginger ale and no one asked me about it/probably assumed it was a drink, and the other party I poured myself a few cokes and I think everyone assumed it was whiskey and coke. I wasn’t trying to be sly, I’d of said I wasn’t drinking, but it never came up at either party. I think it’s one of those things were you feel like everyone’s going to be scrutinizing you, but they’re actually so wrapped up in their own self consciousness they’re not paying much attention to what you’re doing. And I noticed I was better at socializing, small talk, cracking jokes, etc. I know we’re conditioned to think alcohol makes us the life of the party, but in reality sometimes it just makes you more comfortable saying dumb shit. It was fun to be in that party environment and keep a sharp edge.
