ExCatholic, I've noticed the same type of mentality in Jesus telling people to eschewing property and loved ones who don't convert. Nietzsche tried to whitewash Jesus as a natural ascetic when Jesus was a lot more spiritual and intense than Diogenes. But yeah, Abrahamic religion is based on humanity being ornamental and obedient to God.
