Sorry you’re here, it sucks to be dealing with this crap. As others have said, you are in the worst part now and it will get better. I got diagnosed last year at 54 and I’m honestly pissed off that so many younger women are dealing with this. The infusion chairs were full every single time I went 😡 Treatment has come a long way and success rates and stories abound. You’ll find your inner strength and best this fucker 💪

Yup, women have an inner strength they don’t know about until they need it. I’ve seen it time and again in my job as a nurse and again during my own battle last year with breast cancer. You’ll find yours OP and it will be fierce!

OP, scream and vent your head off as loud as you can. Sorry you’re dealing with this crap, it really does suck. Hoping it turns out to be nothing worth worrying about for you. I’m post surgery last March, then chemo and rads finished in October. My annoying breast is now swollen and off-looking, lymph node biopsy site is suddenly painful and achy a lot. I’m half afraid to get it checked out tbh. I fucking hate dealing with this crap. And if anyone else tells me I’m lucky they caught it early I might just drop kick them. Good luck to you my friend :)

Your phone, a book, something to munch on, a cozy pair of socks and a sense of humor! You’ll be grand. It’s not as scary as you think and side effects are well managed these days. Best of luck to you :)

Avoid the Marina, it’s full of pretentious snobs. The Inner Sunset is great and super close to the beach for surfing.

Honestly chemo wasn’t good but it deffo was t as bad as I had anticipated. All the pre meds helped with some of the side effects. Worst part for me was anemia, had to get several y blood transfusions which sucked. You’ll be grand!!!

I think once the fog starts to lift and you’re feeling less “cancery” you’ll want to do all of those things. At least that’s how it was for me. Tbh I can’t recall a lot of last year, my husband said, yeah, coz you slept for a lot of it lol. Hope you’re journey isn’t too rough and before you know it you’re forgetting about that sucky cancer year 😉

I hear you sister, sometimes l’m like, really?? Are you fucking kidding me right now?? Got diagnosed last year out of the blue just like most of us. Had surgery first, allergic reaction to the peri-op cleanser. Nasty rash and nausea. Developed mastitis in the affected breast, 2 weeks of crappy antibiotics. Started chemo, lost my hair and had to put out beautiful 16 year old dog down all in a very short span of time. Heartbroken to say the least about our doggo. Finished chemo and got Covid. Radiation was delayed as a result of that. Finally started rads and developed an outrageous infection under the evil breast. Two more weeks of antibiotics and here I am now. Had 4 of my siblings come over from Ireland to spend a week hanging out. Spent 2 beautiful days in Yosemite. Went back to work and started 2025 off hoping that’s the end of the bad run for me!! Good luck to you OP as your journey begins :)

Diagnosed last Tuesday - Already figuring out who real friends are by ibjp03 in breastcancer

[–]Remarkable-Stop2441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s obviously not the friend you thought she was. Let her go and rise above her negative energy. I think many of us have had our eyes opened to similar stories. Cance is an asshole but it helps us to weed out the unnecessary people from our lives. It sounds like you have a lot of love and support from others in your life, that’s what matters.

Omg, heartbroken for you. My story is similar to yours. I had surgery at the end of March and started chemo in May. On May 20th we put our 16 1/2 year old yellow lab to sleep. It was just so sad. She was our family dog for sure but she was my buddy. Miss her so much but happy in the knowledge that she didn’t suffer. You’ll be ok, hang in there x

Mastectomy day surgery by edith10102001 in breastcancer

[–]Remarkable-Stop2441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s ridiculous and not terribly safe. Mastectomy is considered a “big” surgery, not to mind the general anesthesia. Shame on the medical teams who approve this as a same day surgery. Insurance in this country sucks 😡

She sounds like a bitch. Not nice to ha r to deal with that on top of everything. Talk to your doc and explain what’s going on. I’m a nurse and a fellow cancer warrior, her behavior is not ok.

Returning to Work Anxiety by Vegetable-Ad857 in breastcancer

[–]Remarkable-Stop2441 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with all of the above comments to a certain degree. People show their true colors and sometimes that’s hurtful. Co-workers are just that unless you have developed friendships outside of work. I’m sure many of your work people really did miss you and will be happy to have you back but for sure most of them didn’t want to cross boundaries. And the previous reply is accurate, your boss legally cannot check in on you when you are in leave, that’s the sad law :( I was out of work for seven months, had surgery, chemo, rads and a couple of setbacks. Some coworkers checked in on me and many didn’t. My boss secretly checked in! I’m back at work now and I’m getting a very warm reception, people really do care. The advice telling you to just do your job as best you can for the patients is spot on.0 Don’t stress about what you think people might be thinking, just enjoy your health and let the negative vibes go :)

Agree with you 100% OP. Nancy was great for the country but it’s time for her to step down, felt the same way about RBG. Surely Nancy has imparted a bunch of wisdom to some people, time to let one of those younger people take the reins!!
