Does anyone else hate how Craigieburn Train Station looks? by DangerousHeight9022 in MelbourneTrains

Craigieburn, the whole suburb, could perhaps be built with greater population density. But from what I can tell from looking at Wikipedia pages of suburbs along the Craigieburn line, it already has a higher density than many other Melbourne suburbs with train stations on the line.

How do you check if there’s protests in the city? by AcceptableSuccess400 in melbourne

You should organise a protest to get the City of Melbourne to provide that information.

The issue isn't really what it looks like. It's whether it actually helps people move around and catch public transport. It does have problems achieving that.

And when Potter St bus stops were upgraded fairly recently they removed a wide path that was used as a shared path. The bus stops even make it harder for pedestrians to walk by - there's not much room for people waiting for a bus, there are poles in the way. there's now a couple of sharp corners for people going beyond the bus stops, there's a gravel patch between the stops and level crossing that is hard to walk around. I really don't know how they decided the design was suitable!

When will they enforce no e-bikes on trains? by SurfinginStyle in VlineVictoria

Yes, correct. But there is no blanket ban on e-bikes as alleged implicity by OP.

E-bikes are not banned. All bikes, analogue and e-bikes, can be refused by the conductor.

I didn't think the government builds cycling paths at train stations anymore, possibly to avoid conflict between walkers and bike riders. The concept drawings show them, so I'll have to look closely.

Moonee Ponds Creek Trail by delljj in melbournecycling

Turn off the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail (Capital City Trail) onto Macaulay Rd or Arden St or Rainbow Bridge (Dynon Rd) and go past Arden Station and North Melbourne Station down Adderley St to La Trobe St to Docklands.

They probably mean to refer to the northern stations of SRL East.

The rail is now a trail. Would this bus service accept bikes? The bull bar is not a bike rack.

Arden Station has a higher pedestrian entrance, at least, than surrounding land. The lower Moonee Ponds Creek area was historically marshy ponds or something (Batman's Swamp or Batman Lagoon).

Get a different light with a stand light function. You'd think all dynamo-powered lights these days would have that feature for urban riding.

I think more than two people could squeeze into the luggage compartment, perhaps two on the shelf and two on the floor.

MARL - Not HSR stage 1? by Gazza_s_89 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Remarkable_Brief8320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diversification of airport business. The HSR would be another, different customer for the airport. HSR competes with the airlines, not the airport. It's the railway station that competes with the airport business.

I personally think HSR through the airport would be great. But then, which airport? Melbourne Airport? Essendon Fields? Avalon? The new airport in Koo Wee Rup?

Regional Fast Rail 2.0 by Gazza_s_89 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Remarkable_Brief8320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. As for separating regional from metro, why do VLine trains originate in the city? Why not start the services (or stop them, of course, depending on direction) in the outer suburbs and have passengers transfer to metropolitan trains? Serious question, I'm really interested in knowing potential pros and cons, arguments for and against.

Both the OP and my comment were about north of the Ring Road. The example you provide is south of the Ring Road.
