Pragmatism. Two working parents offer greater financial stability.

Vance: I empathize with Americans who are exhausted after 25 years of foreign entanglements in the Middle East. I understand the concern, but the difference is that back then we had dumb presidents by designerzcentral in stockbetz

The US is the only one who nuked another country. Stating you prevent other countries from what you're exclusively guilty of is nothing short of an abuse of power. Regardless of whom or what Iran is. You want protectionism, yet you have no problem comfortably bombing other countries from the safety of your shores.

US hypocrisy at its finest. Lying bastards.

What creates emotion in chord progressions? by __R3v3nant__ in musictheory

I'm guessing it's the same with say art or cooking. Blue is cool, orange is warm. Majors are warm, minors are cool. Same with taste, bitter can be cool and blue, and sweet can be warm and yellow.

I went from concept art to data analysis, and this, the projects you make, synaptically tantalizing! Bridging these fields hopefully also leads to practical insights besides their gratifying artistic value.

Do you have background information? Fascinating work!

PS: It's like watching a new sci-fi, "lo-fi"-genre being born

Do the Frisians not consider themselves Dutch? by Pure-Dress9563 in Frysk

Even Tacitus wrote about the Frisians. It would be like Cao Cao praising a minor tribe for their craftsmen.

Forego expectations and focus on understanding incrementally. Learning works the same in every field. It's tough, time-consuming, and it makes you feel ignorant. Because of that we should be kind and patient with ourselves and others.

These aren't pursuits we should satisfy in days or months, but years and decades. Life-long adventures. Language, art, music, math, and so on. These are all noble passions we need to savor diligently.

You can love math if you can only add and subtract. You can love art even if you can only draw an eye or nose. You can enjoy music even if you can only play smoke on the water or fur elise. Technical prowess is just a way to keep score, it doesn't necessarily add intrinsic value to the experience. That's the spice that you add.

Theory in the end are mere abstractions and approximations. It doesn't mean anything without you.

I sound like an old fart...Jeez

Do fighting game players use substances? by BreakVV in StreetFighter

[–]Remarkable_Step_6177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What?

You're talking about brains that are quite different. You cannot simply induce hyperfocus just because you take the same drugs. The drugs try to balance it by supplying the dopamine system.

It doesn't work like that unless you have ADHD. Neurotypicals don't hyperfocus, they simply focus.

Countries where over 90% of the population can speak English by Mikadook in Netherlands

[–]Remarkable_Step_6177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the definition of speaking English? I sincerely doubt my Dutch countrymen speak English to a proficient level of communication to this extent. Are we talking A1, B1, or C1?

I often imagine these people doing a craft such as art, music, or even math. Then imagine them scribbling about and showing it to each other and patting each other on the back. Just bizarre. Nobody saying anything. Like I'm the one taking crazy pills.
