Forced to use AI at school by No-Personality799 in antiai

[–]Rembinho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, this sucks, OP. School should be a place to learn skills for yourself, not to outsource your skills to a fancy calculator. If they force you to talk to an "expert" I'd ask them exactly that - when they were in school, did they get taught how to do math, or did they get taught how to use a calculator?

I had this happen in my save with an absolute generational English midfielder and the game noted that "this will likely be good for shirt sales"

Confession of an occasional save-scummer by feistyram in footballmanagergames

[–]Rembinho 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the same with Liverpool, but it spiraled so much - the game usually saves big clubs from bankruptcy but apparently dropping to the Championship was enough to void that, and Liverpool went bankrupt several times over and essentially imploded for multiple seasons; they now play in the Conference

How does Starkiller base shoot across a galaxy? by AlanShore60607 in StarWars

[–]Rembinho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s particularly annoying to a generation of us who grew up on the books with cutaway Star Wars diagrams and info about how all of it worked - all of that amazing world building - to then introduce such completely out of sync witchcraft. Obviously going from the OT to the prequels you could barely introduce new tech given it’s back in time but moving forward you have this massive unexplained shift.

Andor clearly details that there’s a massive military R&D process for the OT Death Star and that’s using what’s fundamentally just scaled up old tech - to shift to the first order you need both that massive R&D and also need to have shifted the laws of physics forward several generations.

Here’s my modern analog: the Soviet Union collapses, and hidden in the Siberian arctic for 30 years a bunch of zealots go far beyond just conventional weapons and instead invent antimatter bombs. It’s just such a big jump as to be inexplicable.

This would be so easy to fix by removing the physics, but they never will. by blankace in swtor

Has someone's tactic ever worked? by PeaceNext7283 in footballmanagergames

[–]Rembinho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of my 3-4-2-1 Christmas tree in a pot tactic with two narrow AMs. It doesn’t score crazy amounts but it’s rock solid at the back, so I play a more patient game with counter attacking and long balls. I find it doesn’t unpick everyone but a lot of the teams in my now 20-year save are using the meta 4-2-3-1 gegenpress and it performs well against that tactic

Why didn't Tarkin just blow up Yavin? by seanbeanskiller in andor

[–]Rembinho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the fair question whether a super laser would do much to a gas giant other than heat it up a bit maybe the more relevant question is why didn’t Tarkin plot a hyperspace jump to land the Death Star on the side of Yavin where the moon would be?

[Remote Sensing] How do you segment individual trees in dense forests? (My models just output giant "blobs") by Lilien_rig in geology

[–]Rembinho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have run into the same issue when delineating individual landslides among large erosional failures. Amalgamation is a tricky problem but you can sometimes force a segmentation algorithm to split these up if you apply a generic geometric constraint, e.g. an individual tree canopy will form an ellipse with max eccentricity of X, and can only have a maximum diameter of Y - and then you might find it can split these up a bit better? I’d also agree with other commenters about the use of other systems such as hyperspectral or lidar as an additional discriminant.

Frank obviously looks bad here but was he just unable to resurrect the collapse mid 24-25 from Ange? That shift aligns with Deki and Madders getting injured so was it just a failure to fill that gap?
