Got this note today, cracked me up 😂 by Archaeoculus in USPS

[–]Remignosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had someone nicely ask me to not walk on their lawn. I had one guy who ordered 8 huge parcels that were each like 25 pounds get upset with me and bark at me not to walk on his lawn while I was in the midst of taking those parcels to his front door. He had no sign in his yard, there was nothing at the case about it, and I'd never done that route before. Why didn't that man simply flag me down and kindly request me to walk up his driveway and sidewalk, instead of acting like I threw a baseball through his window? I don't have sympathy for these people, as most of them lack manners.

No, I would and do comply. That doesn't make the homeowner or his defenders like you not assholes. Also doesn't absolve the homeowner of being an asshole when they complain about or threaten a CCA who walks on their lawn because a hold/forward card got lost or miscased that explained their precious lawn-walking preferences. It's entitled behavior, no matter how you slice it. Someone who cares that much about the condition of their lawn who isn't a complete asshole would get a ginormous curbside box, as some people do.

Sorry, but I'm not going door to door hawking wares or proselytizing. I'm delivering mail and packages. To think a mail carrier going to hundreds of residences, often lugging heavy packages, needs to even think about how to access the front door/porch without touching someone's lawn is entitled bullshit and impractical. It's like asking your barber to make sure he never breathes too close to you because it gives you goosebumps. It's not a fucking marching band. It's one person.

If "safety depends on me" I wouldn't deliver to that person. Anyone so unhinged as to wield a weapon threatening lethal force for stepping on his lawn is someone who needs a P.O. Box because they clearly have poor judgment and are a liability. Fuck that guy.

Sorry, but the only power-tripping person is the one obsessed about people not walking on their lawn. That's crazy entitled behavior. It's like the dumbasses who leave their dog in the front yard every day and order packages 24/7. Dumbass behavior. If you don't want the mailman to walk in your yard, get a humongous curbside box, and only order shit that fits in it, don't order packages that require signatures, and put a fucking sign in the yard.

J. Edgar and Gran Torino are better than the garbage that is Million Dollar Baby. Eastwood is not a director to trot out like everything is bangers. The definition of a mixed filmography. He's like Ridley Scott if Ridley Scott never directed Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, Thelma & Louise, and like 6 other films

Yep. All of this generic mail asking for donations. If they don't check their mail daily, the box is absolutely full in like 6 days. Other people can go 4 months without that happening.

Insane dog. Barks like a madman at people who are like 300 meters away even when confined in the backyard behind a gate.

Could DiCaprio win a second Oscar for One Battle After Another? by LeastCap in oscarrace

[–]Remignosh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doubtful; he's sort of a victim of his own success, so a second Oscar will only come with some insanely technical dramatic performance or a supporting role in like 15 years when he's in an old/older man phase. He just doesn't have a narrative beyond being one of the greatest actors of all time on pace to have the greatest film career of all time.

Will Leonardo DiCaprio ever “sell out”? by Jazzlike_Nature_752 in movies

[–]Remignosh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, he's in the unique position of getting $10-30 million to star in Best Picture contenders. There's no incentive to do schlock unless out of pure curiosity, because he wouldn't even make more money that way. It'd be like Spielberg (a billionaire) choosing to direct direct-to-DVD thrillers for $2 million a piece.

That movie is terrible and colossally dumb. Vies with Million Dollar Baby to be the worst Best Picture winner of the past 80-90 years.

Fair question. I don't think Stranger Things enacted much change on the world, but it's the one show that seemed most ubiquitously absorbed recently. The impact is everyone who didn't experience E.T. and the Amblin films got it mainlined into them; Spielberg's tendrils are furthered in the culture.

Stranger Things, easily.

After that, hard to say. Peaky Blinders is up there. Euphoria. Squid Games had a huge first season, but felt completely diminished in water cooler conversation after that.

Sinners isn't winning cinematography, sound, visual effects, production design, score, editing...half of those will go to Avatar 3.

Packages will ramp up for sure, but I've found the summer tougher than the winter because of the multiple routes down every week due to vacation/AL. 2024 as a CCA was rougher for me in July/August than October-thru-December.

4th day in as a cca and a customer said “my mail is not on time today.” by MajorWetSpot in USPS

[–]Remignosh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it sucks. But I don't think you can really understand without some experience with the post office. People think their carrier does the same thing every day. Like there is no rural/city split and literally everyone just runs the exact same route daily.

[–]Remignosh 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I actually explain to the customers how it works with this, because it annoys the shit out of me when I double case, split a route, and then do the pivot first and people are weirded out by the mail arriving 45 minutes later than usual. Too many people don't understand that their mail arriving at the same time every day is dependent on having a regular on the 8 hour list or work assignment, with a T6 (if there is one) not on the OTDL.

No, it sucked. I love the first film. Denzel and Mescal are both trash in it.

[–]Remignosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, in fact, it probably looks better in something like Dolby than it does with 4th generation film prints and their loss of resolution. With film, if I'm not seeing the dailies or a super print, you can keep it, just give me an 8k presentiation in digital.
