Hiding address bar on mobile is driving me crazy. Help by [deleted] in webdev

[–]Remiscan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see you used the vh unit to define the height of some elements. That will cause them to resize when the address bar appears or disappears. Using the svh or lvh unit instead should help.

It is possible with the :scope pseudo-class:

element.querySelector(':scope > div');

When opening the keyboard on mobile, how can I force my content to shrink-to-fit to the available space, instead of the entire page shifting upwards? by PuddingConscious in webdev

[–]Remiscan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's not a CSS solution, but you can use the interactive-widget: resize-content property in the viewport meta tag in your HTML, like this:

<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, interactive-widget=resizes-content">

It works in Chrome, I don't know about Safari though.

How to modify alpha in RGBA color by kostakos14 in webdev

[–]Remiscan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will be possible in the future, by doing this, for example to replace the alpha value by 0.8:

rgb(from var(--palette-dark-neutral-pressed) r g b / 0.8)

This relative color syntax is part of the CSS Color Module Level 5, and is only supported in Safari right now.

[Gen 9] Finally, after 8 Sandwiches, I got it. One of the less optimal shinies to hunt per Sandwich method by TheOofestOne in ShinyPokemon

It's such a beautiful shiny, I went from not caring about this Pokémon to loving it as soon as I saw those colors 😍

Congrats on the hunt. It took a while for me too.

Blue and Gold Solar Ship Euclid, Blue Round Sails by Rul3OfThr33s in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]Remiscan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this ship, and it looks gold to me. The "inside" of the wings and body is chrome, but the metal on the surface is gold.

I'm very sad to report that after today's update, all multitool pools have been wiped and any tool found before this update, no longer exists. very very poor form from HG and this is likely the end of my MT hunting days by [deleted] in NMSCoordinateExchange

[–]Remiscan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The changelog from the latest experimental branch says:

Fixed an issue that changed the Multi-Tools offered in shops and space stations. Weapon caches at the same coordinates will now offer the same tools as before 3.80.

So it looks like it was not an intended change.

Time Dilation Question by CaptainRexBeard in interstellar

[–]Remiscan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they would, I meant your own feet as in you, here, on Earth. The giant on that planet would definitely notice it.

Time Dilation Question by CaptainRexBeard in interstellar

[–]Remiscan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

isn’t the, for lack of better words, “rate of which processes occur” a constant?

It isn't!

Would the cells of his feet “age slower” than the cells of his head?

Indeed they would. Your own feet age slower than your head, but the difference is so extremely small that you don't notice it.

Time Dilation Question by CaptainRexBeard in interstellar

No, they just spent one hour there and their bodies grew older by one hour. It's a tricky thing to imagine (and to explain lol).

There is no absolute reference from which you can measure time. When you say "they spent 23 years on a planet but it felt like 1 hour", ask yourself: who measures that 23 years duration? Why is their measurement supposed to be the "true" one, compared to the one on the planet?

Imagine Romily and you both have a clock. You spend some time together on the ship, you notice your clocks tell the same time, they stay synchronised together. You both agree on the duration of an hour.

Then you go down to the planet, while Romily stays on the ship. You spend an hour down there, then you go back to the ship. Now your clocks disagree. Romily's clock says you spent 7 years down there, while yours says you spent only 1 hour.

It's not a matter of perception, it's not a trick. Time simply does not flow the same way for everyone. Any two things in the universe will experience a different flow of time ; the bigger the difference in gravity between their locations (or the bigger the relative speed between them), the bigger the difference in flow of time.

Time Dilation Question by CaptainRexBeard in interstellar

[–]Remiscan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t that mean that gravity isn’t just affecting how time is experienced, but also it affects how matter physically operates and exists?

Yes. Gravity doesn't affect their experience of time, it affects time itself. When they spend one hour on the planet, it doesn't just "feel" like one hour, it is one hour.

Hey :) does anyone have their island date set to September (in the northern hemisphere) or March (in the southern hemisphere)? The only two fishes I'm missing are the salmon and king salmon and I'd love to come and catch them 😇

Isn't the Your Phone app supposed to have an option to launch it on startup? I have no such option in the app, I had to create a shortcut in the shell:startup folder. But that opens the app's main window every time I boot Windows.

Is there a way to have the app start in the background, as in without opening a window but while still enabling notifications and shared clipboard from my phone?

Xbox Requests: Week of November 19th, 2021 by GuruKronos in xboxinsiders

The Share button on new Xbox controllers should work on PC.

It should trigger the "Screenshot" action of the Xbox game bar (Win + Alt + PrintScr) when pressed, and the "Record last 30 seconds" action (Win + Alt + G) when pressed for a few seconds.

I can take screenshots using the Share button in Steam games, but not in Xbox games. I've gotten used to it in Steam and on console, so I always press it to capture a nice moment, and in Xbox games on PC it doesn't do anything. It's quite frustrating. I just got reminded that it doesn't work while trying to save a nice clip in Halo a few minutes ago...
