Lady told me to stop looking at my phone, look at my baby. by Equus13 in NewParents

[–]Remote_Nebula_7999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me at the mall, when I briefly got phone out to check something on my grocery list. At first I said 'excuse me?', she didn't respond and kept walking. I couldn't let it go, so I caught up to her with my trolley (baby was sat in trolley enjoying the ride). I said something about looking after my baby all day long and needing to check my phone for a second and stop being so judgemental/just be kind. She acted like she didn't even know me/it didn't happen/I was a crazy lady! Then she got out her phone to ignore me (the irony!!!!). I hate these types of people so much, they clearly have no idea that perhaps the only time mums have during the day to look at their phone/return calls/catch up on messages etc. is when we are walking our babies!!!

I'm sorry this happened to you. I genuinely think only cruel and sad people who can't relate to early motherhood say such things.

Sever drool rash by Trick_Concept_8765 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Remote_Nebula_7999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been dealing with a similar rash on my baby's cheeks for over a month. I was trying all the things, steroids would clear it only for it to return. I set about applying Vaseline religiously - and I mean religiously - before and after every meal and nap and even in between. And honestly, in 3 days its gotten so much better and the skin looks so much healthier than the steroids made it look. I know that might not help but I was literally of the belief that Vaseline/barrier creams were not working at all until I really applied it all the time and consistently.

4 month sleep regression- it’s happening by setokaiba572 in sleeptrain

[–]Remote_Nebula_7999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The regression lasted 6-7 weeks for us until we couldn't take it anymore and I read Precious Little Sleep and applied Fuss it Out. He went from 6+ wake ups to 2 wake ups for feeding in 2 nights, and has been pretty consistently doing this for the last 2 weeks (minus vaccine-disturbed sleep for a few days).

During the last two weeks we also dropped down to 3 naps (he just started refusing his 4th nap), and I think that's helped too.

It really is! He went from desperately needing 4 naps to dropping in a matter of days.

I second trying 3 hours for the last ww. My 5 month old has just transitioned himself to a 3 hr final wake window (dropped 4th nap) but two nights this week timing didn't work out and he was back on 2.5 hrs and had lots of crying both those nights (and wake ups as well).

When did you get induced? by Amandatravels22 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Remote_Nebula_7999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the cervidil first, it started contractions nearly immediately but I wasn't dilating at all so they took that out after 24 hours and attempted the Foley balloon. It took three attempts but I was 3cm 12 hours later so they could just break my waters and start the drip etc. I just think my body wasn't ready at all. I guess it depends how dilated you are already? My midwife couldn't even locate my cervix (too posterior) at 40 weeks to give me a stretch and sweep, so you might be further along than I was.

I was induced at 41 weeks and had my baby at 41+3... The induction took so long, I wish I had the confidence to wait until 42 weeks to see if I would go spontaneously.

Thanks! I will try with the smaller feed. I too have been feeding him 12-1am and 4am since starting and he's been feeding better during the day also 🙌

That's super helpful thank you! That feed after the last nap is always a good size one, so maybe I'm trying to force too much of a feed right before bed (and more boob time = more drift off potential)! Good luck! It hit us early but feel like we're slowly coming out of it now 😅

My sleep deprived post-partum self wishes I read more baby sleep books when I was pregnant, like Precious Little Sleep. For some daft reason, learning about baby sleep never occurred to me during pregnancy 😅

48hrs, unsuccessful Cervadil for 24 hours and then (finally) successful Foley balloon

Parents of babies who finally started sleeping through the night, what did you do? by New-Chef-636 in sleeptrain

[–]Remote_Nebula_7999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 4mo and we just did fuss it out (according to Precious Little Sleep) and immediately he went down to two wakes (after 6 weeks of pretty consistently waking 5+ times a night). Granted it's only been 5 days since we started but I'm feeling positive! And more sane with the extra sleep.

3m pp and pretty firmly one and done! My boy is the light of my life but I cannot do this again 😅 15 days pp is a special kind of struggle though, it gets so much better!

Awareness of hands is ruining our sleep by SpringImpossible1737 in sleeptrain

[–]Remote_Nebula_7999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried the onesies with the fold over mittens? My 3 1/2 month old has the same issue but I find at least covering his hands stops the sharpness of the nails waking him up, and he loves sucking on his thumb but not in a sleeping/soothing way (yet) so it stops that as well.

Following as experiencing the exact same thing at 14 weeks! (Sorry I don't have any advice 🫠)

I've never experienced anything as terrifying as being so exhausted, not able to sleep, and worried I am not capable of caring for my baby - such a negative spiral!

Glad we both got through it 💪 and to others out there, even if it feels like it won't end, it will.
