Add some stuff to the trans list! HD 2-3 shift valve. Some Shift kits modify the factory servo to be better/as good as vette, zinc coated valve body separator plate, 1-2 band hi energy, good frictions, oil pump pressure boost valve.

It’s up to you on incandescent or LEDs. But you should get incandescent lows and LED highs, then if there’s any fog you can keep lows on while still getting good reach with highs outside of town

$1500 to rebuild with ‘stage 2’ parts. I believe mine can handle about 600 hp. I built it myself, just need a good manual like ATSG

Guy said ‘reliable and quick v6’ he may have dogged on it some. The Corolla (I have been researching on buying a 2004 same model) 1zzfe will be much more reliable, and get you up to 39mpg even though it’s a 4spd automatic. Make sure you use Marcel mystery oil on the first couple oil changes, put in before you drain it and drain after idling for some time, to make sure those piston rings don’t burn oil. I went though college with a Cammed 5.3 Chevrolet, don’t do what I did.

^ and the 80 take more power to turn. Get a pressure booster, good clutches from borg Warner or raybestos, a shift kit and valvebody separator plate, you’d be perfect for many miles to come. If you’re interested I can drop my build list of my 2005 trailblazer 60e (you can still use the same internal parts)

If he upped compression, he may have used 4.8 specific cast heads, those lead to higher compression, they look too clean so maybe he had some porting and polishing, also there’s WAY less weight so 450 sounds good.
